HURRY UP TOMORROW - THE WEEKND
@Rogue 7 @boom bazooka joe 6 @Aester 5 @Petty Mayonnaise 5 @Sprockrooster 5 @CorgiCorgiCorgi 3 @Diet Pop! 3 @4Roses 3 @Untouchable Ace 2 @Phonetics Girl 1

And one of the biggest albums of the month, by one of the forum's favourite male artists, only barely scrapes the top 10. As I said, I really thought this would do better, but I guess it being a January 31 release and extremely long probably didn't help? I meant to do a The Weeknd discography deep dive in January and listen to thisat the end of that, but that didn't end up happening, so I didn't actually hear this either dd. Maybe this month. That said, this artwork is sooo awful it actually makes me not want to listen to the album.

SUPERFICIAL 2: HEIDIWOOD EDITION - HEIDI MONTAG
@Million_Lights 9 @Rogue 8 @Sprockrooster 8 @Petty Mayonnaise 7 @soratami 7 @Maki 2

Beating The Weeknd by a single point despite having four less voters, we have Superficial 2: Heidiwood Edition. Now for those unaware, this is an interesting release. Basically, this album (that is, the original Superficial, released in 2010) got a lot of extra attention recently due to Heidi and her husband Spencer being affected by the LA fires, and also due to album track I'll Do It going viral (it literally got a music video just the other day, plus a bunch of new remixes have been being release). Now Superficial 2 is a rerelease that includes that same album plus a bunch of newly recorded songs, so pretty much two albums in one. Her Tortured Poets Department if you will. I'd never listened to the original Superficial, but knew it was a bit of a cult classic, so it was fun to finally listen to it now and see what all the fuss was about, as it's a great throwback to that era (even if the vocals can be highly questionable in parts nn), but I actually prefer the new material, she really delivered some absolutely killer bangers here.

DÍA - ELA MINUS
@klow 10 @BubblegumBoy 8 @Cutlery 8 @4Roses 7 @Oleander 7 @daninternational 6 @soratami 6 @berserkboi 4 @Trouble in Paradise 4 @Maki 1

And another big average jump! The first of the four quasi-tied releases is the sophomore album by Colombian artist Ela Minus, another excellent release from one of the most interesting female electronic musicians at the moment. While I obviously love her solo work, this is an artist who I'd absolutely love to see branch out and do production work for other pop girls, because I know the results could be really something special. Really need Emilia or Belén to give her a call. Also, fun fact: today is literally Ela's birthday, so feel to stream and/or buy the album as a present x

With the same amount of points as Ela Minus but beating her on account of receiving more 9s, we have... quite possibly the least pop album to have ever appeared in these charts? An hour and a half long horror-adjacent drone journey... I have to say I tried giving this a listen, but I gave up about five minutes in because the mumbling set to eerie atmospheric noises was genuinely creeping me out, and I'm very much not a horror girl and really didn't want to put myself through another eighty-five minutes of that. Saying this album isn't for everyone would be an understatement, but it's still cool seeing it do so well here, goes to show that even if this is a pop-adjacent forum, we really do have pretty diverse tastes. And even if as a body of work it didn't really seem to be my cup of tea, I will say that I thought the lead single Punish was great.

RAVE IMMORTAL - ALT BLK ERA
@Phonetics Girl 10 @Music Is Life & Death 9 @4Roses 8 @cdd216 8 @BubblegumBoy 7 @unnameable 7 @Petty Mayonnaise 6 @klow 4 @soratami 3

We begin the top 5 with an album I honestly didn't expect to do this well, the debut by British sister duo ALT BLK ERA, who I don't think I'd heard of prior to the last round of PJSC, where the excellent Hunt You Down was entered by @Phonetics Girl and ended up in second place. This album mixes a bunch of different genres, from rock to rap to electronica and drum and bass and more, and somehow manages to pull that off successfully and makes for a super fun, dynamic and engaging listen. Definitely my favourite discovery of the month.

DEBÍ TIRAR MÁS FOTOS - BAD BUNNY
@melodrama 10 @Trouble in Paradise 10 @Enrique Garcia 9 @Oleander 8 @Sprockrooster 7 @Aester 6 @Rogue 6 @klow 5 @Diet Pop! 4

Missing a spot in the podium (although it wasn't even close), we have both the highest charting non-English album and the highest male vocals one, and also the only album in the top 5 I haven't actually listened to, oops. DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS is the artist's sixth album and is dedicated to his homeland of Puerto Rico and mixes reggaeton with a number of traditional Puerto Rican genres. As much as I love listening to music in Spanish (in fact I'm literally listening to La Bichota herself as I write this), honestly Bad Bunny is someone that's never really grabbed my attention in a big way (probably due to being a man nn), but still it's very cool for such a huge artist (I imagine this must be the biggest album of the year so far) to bring all manner of traditional genres to a massive worldwide audience like this, so kudos to him for that.

NGL - JOJO
@Music Is Life & Death 10 @pop3blow2 10 @savilizabeths 10 @unnameable 10 @boom bazooka joe 9 @CorgiCorgiCorgi 6 @Diet Pop! 6 @Million_Lights 6 @Rogue 5 @4Roses 4 @Aester 4 @Petty Mayonnaise 4 @soratami 4 @Oleander 3

Now I feel like everyone basically knew what this month's top 2 would be from the get-go, but I have to say I really didn't expect JoJo do put up so much of a fight! Although she didn't actually come close to #2 at all, this is a huge point jump from to the albums at #4-#8. So basically, she pretty much had bronze on lock from the start. JoJo is an artist I've always enjoyed but whose discography I've never really dived into properly, and I have to say this EP was a really pleasant surprise. Just Pop-R&B excellence from start to finish, and I'll definitely be following her future releases more closely from now.

It may not make a difference in the standings but let the record show that I gave Ethel 10!

I had absolutely no idea Bad Bunny would chart that high. I did enjoy his song that played during the w2g session.

The top 2 is as predictable as ever. You can do it, twigsy!

Yeah, that really caught me by surprise honestly. It was @melodrama's last minute 10 that propelled him up the leaderboard, because prior to that last ballot he was sitting at #8.

It may not make a difference in the standings but let the record show that I gave Ethel 10!

Right, I just forgot to write the number, will fix that now.
