It was Ricky Gervais' first dalliance with fame. But it only lasted 2 singles.

And just like that all 4 main contests are due at the same time for their quarter quell winner's rates.

I'm utterly disgusted at a #20 finish (and complete absence of 12s, 10s and 8s) for Angie Gold. That song should have easily been top 10, if not top 5. The lack of points for "Don't Give Me No Alibi" from a certain set of you is duly noted.

As one of the earliest members of PJ Retro and a participant in 57 rounds so far, I've seen different trends come and go in terms of what does well, depending on the voter mix. I honestly don't know what's happening these days, and it's clear that my retro music tastes no longer align with any majority here.

I think it's time I depart both the contest and the forum.

Had The Graces on my submission list FOREVER. My original entry was vetoed because The Manics had covered it, which left me feeling a little uninspired, because I really wanted to send it.



I didn’t really know what to send after that, so I just chose an old song randomly off my list. Honestly in the 3 years they‘ve been on my potentials I was always kinda shocked they were never entered. All worked out great for me in the end, though!

Anyway, thanks for the bday wishes too. I have an idea for a loose theme that should’nt really alienate anyone. I’ll get it together and run by the panel in the next couple of days.

I would hate to see you leave since I often find your entries of high quality, not to mention you always contribute high spirits to these threads, but I also understand it feels disheartening with poor results. I've taken breaks on occasions when I haven't really had any songs to enter, but after spending a couple of evenings deep-diving on Youtube into all kinds of music my shortlist is anything but short and I'm enjoying this more than ever before. (But that's of course easy to say with a couple of recent strong results.)

At its core this should be about the passion for discovering music and helping others discovering music - the contest part is mostly just a fun game to trick ourselves into actually listening to everything and giving it an honest shot - but if that passion isn't currently there it could be healthy to take a step back (and hopefully return with new energy at some point).
