I had totally forgotten Sisse Marie until scrolling through my potentials and also missed the Danes Rate completely so to have someone else recognise the entry is fun! I kinda fell out of love with it though the moment it was submitted - feels that it’s a remix or 2 away from being genuinely good but we’ll see.
Looking forwards to the results - think my 12 is walking this.

So I sent Olive. Again. For the third time, which makes this their fourth appearance in this contest. At this point, Olive and Poe are racing with whose album is going to be sent as a whole first dd
Olive's previous two entries I sent ("Trickle" and "Push") I've heard before the actual album. But when I did check the full album last year, just after submitting them for the second time, I was amazed by how fantastic the whole thing is. Literally one of my favourite albums of the entire decade, like 90% of the songs are highlights. To put things into perspective, "Smile" isn't even in my top 5 from this album but it's still an amazing song. So the way I settled on that one, because I had at least five of them in mind, is that I looked a bit at the reviews/comments and saw the unanimous praise for "Smile" (desperate tactics I know). The song itself, co-written and produced by Peter-John Vettese, does have something almost dystopian about it, like it's the song that plays after the world ends or something. And the lyrics are lovely too.
Probably won't pay off, but at least it serves as a reminder for everyone to check out this absolute gem of an album:
I very much doubt it will keep my string top 5 placements by Olive, but I guess it doesn't hurt to be optimistic.

According to my brief searches of mentions of Anberlin on the forum, I am expecting points from @livefrommelbs and maybe @DJHazey “And No More” (Jamelia’s “The Collection” Cover Sticker, 2009).
Not sure what led me to go clicking around before this round opened, but I hadn’t listened to Anberlin for a minute and I had a MOMENT when “Time & Confusion” came on. Given that you will likely never read my novel that I wrote for Ultimate Albumjustice it goes something like this:

•Boy 1 spends a decade as a functioning alcoholic because it‘s not like Yuengling will be your best friend and then abandon you
•Boy 1 sends song to online contest 17 years later after this entire period flashes through his mind during the 3 minutes and 25 seconds length of the song

Anneli Drecker and I go way back, I remember when it was really hard to get her albums outside of Norway and I had to wait weeks for them to arrive from an old site called CDPlanet.no. I was introduced to her not through Bel Canto (which I now know and love) but this song, which I really wanted to send but didn't because PJ contests are where ballads go to die:
"Sexy Love" is probably the most commercial moment on her solo debut, and I sent it because that part about halfway through where it suddenly opens up always makes me feel like I'm flying. One day I'll get a speeding ticket driving to that!
