PJ00s+ 73: 1-555-CONFIDE / Winner (& final confessions) revealed!

Though on the other hand, that was actually the correct thing to do when you think about it, as voting for a song literally knowing who submitted it would be a bit iffy. I compliment Confessor #2 for the righteousness. I wonder if the other person complained after not getting any points though ddd
I think when I was in this situation it was all ethical and sexual favours.

To be fair, every song contest host has had to vote for songs knowing exactly who submitted what. When I’m hosting I try not to retain that information when I’m voting, and I try to vote earlier than usual so that I’m not influenced by how the results are going up to that point, but obviously I can’t fully block all the information from my brain!

Is that your excuse for why you didn't vote for me in either of the eternally iconic, never-been-done-before, can never be imitated or duplicated, award winning, best 2 rounds of all-time, rounds of PJ00s we co-hosted back-to-back?

I think you did vote for me in one of them, I'm just fooling around ddd.

dd I meant when not hosting. But yes, I also don't make an effort to remember/tend to forget who entered what when I'm hosting, especially given there's always a bit of a gap between receiving/registering people's entries and actually going through the playlist and voting.

And now, someone admits to a crime (ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration)

CONFESSION #3

"I’ve decided a winner with my ballot as host to avoid a tie break winner."

Honestly, I get how someone could do that, but personally, as a host it'd just feel wrong to have the final results in mind when compiling my ballot (and this goes for when I'm hosting the monthly charts as well, even if that's not a contest, and by the way, vote in them). Not judging, but it just doesn't sit right with me to influence things like that. But I generally vote early when hosting anyway, and never go back to change my ballot, so that's never even really been something to consider.

The only time I’ve ever been tempted to influence the results when I was hosting was to rescue a song from zero points, and even then I’ve never actually changed my ballot to do it.

A zero-pointer happened once when I hosted PJ Retro and the user stopped posting on the forum not long after. I very much hope never to see another zero-pointer, at least when I’m hosting, because that would annoy me far more than having a tie-break winner.

@Jeffo helped me not being that zero-pointer in the last PJ Retro edition.
Poor Nancy Dee.

Oh that is a good one. That's something I'm pretty sure I've considered doing at least once too, but I think the song ended up getting some points from someone else towards the end of the voting period anyway.

I feel like the ultimate test is probably if you're hosting and a song you gave points to would beat yours to the win by a very small margin, and you know that if you tweak your ballot a little bit you could win instead dd. Though I'm sure that's a situation that only happens extremely rarely anyway.

I was on the cusp of that once as well, but luckily someone voted for it. At least it would be distinctive, though!

Dddd you’re one of the few song contest hosts who actually has experienced the thrill of winning while hosting. Most of us don’t come anywhere close when we’re hosting…

I’ve finished on silver thrice when hosting.

@Jeffo also saved me from 0 points with his big 10 for a trash bop.
