This looks like something I could have written except I didn't. Who is this??? Something similar usually happens when I don't have a song that I feel like is ~~the one~~ or there's just nothing that I'm particularly excited about at the time like what happened during the current PJXtra round. The entry changing 800 times can sometimes be hard on the host too (apols to the most recent victim @berserkboi xoxo). It's definitely a good way to find new music though.Up next, and example of the trauma these contests put us through...
CONFESSION #4
"Sometimes, when it's almost time for a new song contest, I get so preoccupied with finding the perfect submission that I'll fall down a little OCD rabbit hole and listen to nothing but my potentials list (depending on which round is incoming) for like a week straight. During this time, the song I think I want to submit will change about 800 times and I'll have driven myself mad before the next round even opens. Once the round finishes, I rarely listen to the song I've submitted again.
I have absolutely no idea why I get so transfixed, but it's a nice distraction from hyper-fixating on things in the real world."
This is definitely relatable. I wouldn't go as far as not listening to anything else for a week, but sometimes I either cycle through a bunch of different potentials on my playlist before settling on one, or go deep diving through Spotify and basically don't stop until I find just the perfect entry, which to be fair has lead to some excellent discoveries and great results over the years, but on the other hand it can take up quite a bit of time, and I always end up with a bunch of my entries and potentials on my Spotify Wrapped.
Definitely relatable except for me it's a search in the days once the new round goes up in order to find a new entry ddd.Up next, an example of the trauma these contests put us through...

I need to try and track down a song I heard the other day - the problem is, I was watching an old TV show and heard a cool song I didn't recognise - it's one of these cases where the original (probably expensive to use) song has been replaced on streaming by something different, so checking the official soundtrack list for the show won't help me. Aaagh.
my journey was to see the act live and submit their song to this round.I actually went on a journey looking for my entry for this round,
I just felt like I needed to get something out of my system so the last discovery I sent was Youngblood. I regretted it with my lowest results since round 50.my last entry that was a recent discovery
I totally thought that was your confession upon reading it dddThis looks like something I could have written except I didn't. Who is this??? I was expecting mess and all I'm getting is whiplash from the repeated nodding of my head in agreement to all these confessions.
The Labyrinth soundtrack is where it begins and ends for me with him (As The World Falls Down is an 11). I'm not sure if I've ever listened to anything else by him!And now something not forum/song-contest related for a change (though there are a few more of these in the wings)
CONFESSION #5
"General pop music: I am completely nonplussed by David Bowie's cult status. It just leaves me cold."
Honestly... this one could literally have been me. Obviously don't deny the talent or the impact, but it's an artist I basically never listen to and never felt compelled to get into either.
OK I could have written parts of this too, I'll sometimes go on Spotify recommended artist rabbit holes where I'll start with an artist I love then go through the "Fans also like" section trying to make new discoveries, a lot of songs on my potential lists I can't remember how I found them anymore probably because of this method, that or it was a random autoplay on Youtube/Spotify. Nice to know other people get obsessive about it too!Up next, an example of the trauma these contests put us through...
