  1. So I did end up entering one of these, but then I thought of something else which I think fits the theme much better and sent that in. I'm not sure if it will make it through veto though... But I'll be thrilled if it does!

Decided on my entry (well, if it passes veto!) so that brings us up to 17 participants and I haven't even set a deadline yet.

We obviously need at least a few more, but thanks everyone for what you've sent in so far, and good luck to you all.

  4. Jumping back into this cause why not. An entry that has no appeal to anybody? Sure, that's exactly what you've been missing.
  5. Wow! This is going way more swiftly than when I hosted!

Maybe it was good to have a small break!! Keep them coming!
  6. I'm still expecting a cake with 'veto' iced on it to be thrown in my face.

  7. Make that two entries with no appeal!

First time I've done this in a while so should be interesting.
  8. Welcome back!

  9. Why, thank you.

I'm not sure you'll think that when you hear my entry though. That's if it gets past the veto panel.
  10. I've just submitted my first attempt.
    Good luck everyone!
  11. I'm not sure if I'll think of something, but I'll try!

Apologies for the slightly extended silence - it's been one of those weeks at work.

But I have a second batch of entries to send to the veto panel, the only person from the first batch to be vetoed has been told and has submitted a backup, and we have more than enough entries now to run the thing.

So... Is it very mean to now set a deadline in the relatively near future for any stragglers to get their entries in? Sometime over the holiday weekend, say?

Basically, I'd like to close the entry window on Sunday, so I can put the list up on Monday and make sure my work schedule doesn't delay us again.

Let me know what you think - if there's a big negative reaction, we'll push it forward a bit, but if not I'll edit the thread title tonight to try and remind anyone still intending to enter that they need to get their skates on.

  13. Deadline for Sunday is okay. It is Easter however. I know I am second batch, so if I get vetoed I am not sure I could find a back up that quick. I do not have the time to dig deep into my library today. Maybe tomorrow.

BUT YAAAAY for already having enough participants. I had to search/tag people to volunteer. Glad you do not have to do that work!
  14. "The Art Teacher"

    There I was in uniform
    Looking at the art teacher
    I was just a girl then;
Never have I loved since then

He was not that much older than I was
He had taken our class to the Metropolitan Museum
He asked us what our favorite work of art was,
But never could I tell it was him
Oh, I wish I could tell him --
Oh, I wish I could have told him

I looked at the Rubens and Rembrandts
I liked the John Singer Sargents
He told me he liked Turner
Never have I turned since then
No, never have I turned to any other man

    All this having been said,
I married an executive company head
All this having been done, a Turner - I own one
Here I am in this uniformish, pant-suit sort of thing,
    Thinking of the art teacher
    I was just a girl then;
Never have I loved since then
No, never have I loved any other man

    (2004 though)

Dear panel, please don't veto my other choice, I genuinely have no idea what else to send other than Viking metal or something Polish.
  17. Disco Polo!
  18. This was one of the first songs my class was taught on guitar.

  19. With mine it was "Seven Nation Army". Which was actually quite easy. Failed with everything after that.

That is as far removed from "art" as possible. Anti-Art.
