The irony with Kimmy, for me, is her timing was always off. It's not until I looked back that I fully appreciated how drop-dead gorgeous she was back in the 80s. I first properly fancied her when she did the gardening thing, haha.

1981 - me too young to really think that way, and she wasn't cutesy like Clare Grogan.
1984 - not the petite, dark pixie look I was into for some reason.
1986 - too much like Kim Basinger and not Molly Ringwald or Ally Sheedy.
1988 - still not American enough.
1992 - not Belinda Carlisle.

Now, of course, I'd say she was the best of them all.

EG's Chartdust: Vienna stays at #1 for yet another week, but the challengers are literally queueing up behind it, with everyone from #2 to #6 in possible contention.

Highest debut is from that Wilde woman, just ahead of Toyah and Shaky. Michael Jackson takes a break from his solo career to join up again with his brothers on a potential biggie. The Who are into their third decade of hit-making, and You Better You Bet follows Pete Townshend's solo hits from last year into the EG Retrochart Top 40.

Since You Been Gone is my favourite but this also holds strong memories.

I've now had most of the main artists I was exposed to (as opposed to actively listened to) when I was very young top my chart:

Apparently I was very into Dollar aswell but it seems it was either so brief or I was so young that even by the time I was getting into music myself in 83/84 when I was 4/5yrs old I had already forgotten them and unlike the others I didn't continue listening to them as I got older. No, 1982 was their annus mirabilis...

My favourite Rainbow singles were Since You've Been Gone and All Night Long. I Surrender is excellent AOR, but early 1981 proved just too strong for it to do better than #18 for me.

Eh. Solid AOR, yeah, but... y'know, it's facing the likes of "Man on the Silver Mountain" and "Gates of Babylon" from the Dio era, it can't really stack up to that.
