Did you have a 1979 thread with weekly charts Phoenix123, like 1980?

I'm afraid not. I decided to start at the start of the decade. I thought even starting then would prove a bit too early for most and judging by a lot of comments in the first thread many people did seem to say they would be interested in contributing but only once we got to the mid 80s.

Not enough of us oldies around!

Twelve months ago, Cliff Richard's We Don't Talk Anymore was slugging it out with ELO's Don't Bring Me Down at the top of the Official UK Top 40 and my own EG chart for September 1979. Fast forward a year and the battle is renewed; last time both acts eventually reached #1....but will history repeat itself? All Over The World does well to climb from #4 to runners-up spot, but looks to have run its race as far as the summit is concerned. Another single from the Xandau soundtrack makes the Top 10, as ONJ's sublime Magic rises 11 to #7. Those looking for possible chart champs of the future might see the #14 debut of Queen's latest opus as significant...or will Stevie Wonder have a say? Or even Madness?
