- This week is week ending 17 May 1980. Your deadline is MIDNIGHT Saturday 7 May

- Post in the thread or start a new conversation with me with your top 10/20/100 songs of each week.

- Each week I will post a list of new entries and releases that are eligible to chart and links to international charts.

- The list will not be exhaustive and you are free to add any more obscure songs on your personal list released up to that date (within the prior 6 months) or songs contemporaneously charting on international charts. If you do I would appreciate any links to evidence the release date or chart history to update the archive.

- You are free to use your own personal charts from the time (if you have them) or create an updated list for this chart.

- Please rank your songs from your favourite downwards. (eg #1 down to #100)

- Your #1 gets 100 points, #2 gets 99 points etc

- The weekly PJOPS Retrochart is compiled from accumulated points each week.

- It would be fantastic if you could regularly contribute lists but understandably there may be weeks you can not. If someone fails to contribute towards a weekly chart their previous week’s choices will be frozen and contribute to the chart but the points will be halved. This is to prevent wild fluctuations in chart positions depending on contributions.

Lots of movement in the top ten this week. Dexys Midnight Runners still hold the peak position with "Geno" for the second week running - although they've slipped to number two in the Mainstream UK chart with Eurovision winner Johnny Logan's "What's another year" taking over the number one. He's struggling in the Cubster region though - only climbing one place to number 19!
Macca is stuck at number two with "Coming up" but there's lots of movement between numbers three and seven - any one of these records could jump to number one next week:
Hot chocolate are up 20 places to number three, Narada Michael Walden climbs 7 places to number four, Average White Band are up 8 places to number five, Michael Jackson shoots up 21 places to number six and the week's highest climber are The Beat who rocket 23 places to number seven with "Mirror in the bathroom" This is their third top ten hit this year!
The rest of the top ten are heading down: Telex, Blondie and surprisingly The Cure drop two places to number ten this week. There were rumours that it was going to make the top five this week but the competition was too strong in the end.
The highest new entry is at number 25 - we welcome back Roxy Music and "Over you"
Prince still has two singles in the top 20 - numbers 12 and 17. The Human League at number 21 are still advising The Undertones "My perfect cousin" at number 14
