- Each week I will post a list of new entries and releases that are eligible to chart and links to international charts (click on the flag / icon for the hyperlink).

- The list will not be exhaustive and you are free to add any more obscure songs on your personal list released up to that date or songs contemporaneously charting on international charts. If you do I would appreciate any links to evidence the release date or chart history to update the archive.

- You are free to use your own personal charts from the time (if you have them) or create an updated list for this chart.

- Please rank your songs from your favourite downwards. (eg #1 down to #100)

- Your #1 gets 100 points, #2 gets 99 points etc

- The weekly PJOPS Retrochart is compiled from accumulated points each week.

- It would be fantastic if you could regularly contribute lists but understandably there may be weeks you can not. If someone fails to contribute towards a weekly chart their previous week’s choices will be frozen and contribute to the chart but the points will be halved. This is to prevent wild fluctuations in chart positions depending on contributions.

As predicted nothing could stop Shakin' Stevens this week as "This Ole House" makes its expected move 2-1 on a healthy sale of 108,000 taking overall sales to 262,000 for the track which is now easily his biggest seller. 27 years after the track first reached No 1 this is a pre-cursor to Shaky's re-issued and re-titled 2nd album for the Epic label also called "This Ole House" which is re-released this week, originally released last October entitled "Marie Marie" after his then single, perhaps it will have better luck with its new title after failing to chart initially.

Shaky's rise comes with a sales increase, not so for Kim Wilde whose "Kids In America" does moves 3-2 yet drops back in sales losing 13% at 74,000 a mere 2,000 copies ahead of both a falling Roxy Music 1-3 and a climbing Toyah 8-4 who are within 500 copies of each other.

Back with a third top 10 hit from "Hotter Than July" Stevie Wonder manages three top 10 singles on the trot for only the second time in his career (he previously did the trick in 1969/1970) as "Lately" climbs 18-6 (50,000).

It seems Fred Wedlock has started a trend, as now comedian Tony Capstick follows him into the top 10 with "Capstick Comes Home/ The Sheffield Grinder" which zooms 54-10 (39,000) this week! It features The Carlton Main/Frickley Colliery Band, Capstick has been a performer on the Folk scene (like Wedlock), 1981 is shaping up to be an eclectic year!

The Who hold at No 9 (43,000) though sales slip despite TOTP, and on their way down are Adam & The Ants 4-5 (65,000), Coast To Coast 5-7 (48,000), and Teardrop Explodes 6-8 (46,000)
