Now that's how you open a show. After (too) many a days, we've come to the point of a new song contest – for old pre-shit music. That is, the song you submit has to have been released before the year 2000 since we all know music took a turn for the worse after December 31st 1999. The theme for the occasion, you ask? We will be taking on songs that open the album they originated from. Song 1, if you will. It doesn't have to be from a "regular" studio album; if the song originated from a compilation, it's perfectly okay to submit. Opening tracks from EPs are okay as well. I, uh, think that covers the theme. PM your submissions to me, and the veto panel will decide if it fits all the criteria. Including the important rule just below the headline Important Rules. Important Rules (stolen from prev. contest, who stole them from the one before, and so on...) - Don't send very well known songs from very well know artists, don't play sneaky with me by trying to submit unknown songs from very well known artists, also not allowed* You'll get a PM back if or when you song has been vetoed, you’re then allowed to send another song as long as it’s before the deadline. If you’re not sure your song met the requirements, you can always send a back-up song along. I’ll post and update a pass/veto list in the first page throughout the submission time. - When submission closes, we’ll get to voting, Eurovision style.* 12 points (Your Favorite) 10 Points 8 Points 7 Points 6 Points 5 Points 4 Points 3 Points 2 Points 1 Point (Least Favorite out of your favorites) You’re basically making a top ten from all the entries. DON’T VOTE FOR YOUR OWN SONG. - Don’t reveal your song until I reveal them and don’t talk about your votes until the contest is over. - We all know the drill, if you manage to win the whole damn contest, you’ll get to host the next one. If you can’t, or simply don't want to, you can always pass the baton on to the runner up and so on. Schedule (I'm working 20 hours overtime in May, so bear with if this ends up being slightly fluid): Submission: May 8 – May 18 Voting: May 18 – May 30 (This is a Saturday) Results: May 31 (This is a Sunday) I wanted this to be a fairly liberal round, but not completely themeless. Hopefully this is a balance that will please most of you – it'll be interesting to see what people come up with.
