I know there's always back and forth about veto panel leniency / strictness, but just to throw it out there -- I was wondering if maybe we need to start vetoing/penalizing songs that feature heavily in the monthly charts thread? It seems like a decent amount of people participate both here and there, but also some only partake in one so the songs might be new to many........
I know personally I've never been there.

I think you should. It’s about a good a gauge as any of what new releases are making waves among the PJ crowd, and we’ve just had yet another song from the charts do really well in this contest.

I would think it belongs on that list of "things that will affect your veto score but not necessary veto", with the high-ranking albums/songs that have clearly garnered a lot of attention from a lot of people around the forum being more of an issue, and those who-even-is-this albums/songs that sometimes find their way into the lower reaches of the charts because two or three people with super hipster taste give them big points being not a problem.
Basically, I think it's something you guys can consider in conjunction with other forum discussions (i.e. threads) when deciding if an entry is too big a forum fave for this.
