Welcome to PJXtra 14 - which does its name justice:
this round has an extra round!
We thought that, as PJXtra started as a one-off
spin-off from PJSC, we would have an extra round this time:
a cross-over with PJSC!
There will be of course a main round,
with all the usual rules, where songs in English
(and for this round: Russian.... how apt)
are not allowed, see the rules below.
There will be an extra round,
which is kinda "PJSC Easy":
the rules for PJXtra are applicable to that round,
however: ONLY songs in English are allowed!
(plus one other additional rule: no US & UK top 20 hits).
The rules for the extra round will be
listed in a separate post below.
Like stated above, taking part in this extra round is optional -
you don't have to take part if you're
taking part in the main round, but the more, the merrier!
For that reason, we also make it possible to take
part in the extra round only, for those who
do not wish to take part in PJXtra.
Please note: if you take part in the main round
and/or the bonus round, you do have to vote of course!
The deadlines for the bonus round will be a
little later than for the main round,
so you'll have plenty of time (well....)
if you take part in both rounds
Dates main round:
Submission deadline: March 4
Voting deadline: March 25
Reveals: March 26
The Rules!
"You can submit a song that:
- is sung in any language other than that of the winning song from the most recent PJXtra contest (Russian) and features less than 20% approximately of English lyrics.
- hasn’t charted in the top 3 anywhere in the world and isn’t a Eurovision Song Contest entry (non-qualifying national final songs are eligible).
- is performed by an artist with 30 pages or less of dedicated discussion on the Popjustice forum & didn’t participate in the most recent PJXtra competition.
- hasn’t previously been entered into either PJSC, PJ00s or PJXtra.
- if it is a cover version, is subject to certain criteria including if the song being covered is already famous/successful.
A winning artist in PJXtra is banned for the next 5 rounds.
As stated above, a winning language is banned for the next round only.
Once the list of successful songs is published, you listen to them all,
choose your favourite ten and allocate points as follows:
12 points : your favourite song of the contest
10 points : 2nd place
8 points: 3rd place
7 points
6 points
5 points
4 points
3 points
2 points
1 point
Please keep your ballots secret, sharing them only with the hosts in a PM who will reveal the results once voting closes. You are unable to vote for your entry -
and any non-voters have their final total halved!"
So, send BOTH of us your entry in a PM before
March 5, 00.01 in the last timezone,
and please include the year of release,
the language your entry is in,
and a YouTube and Spotify link.
