I previously mentioned how it made no sense to me that NF songs were allowed in PJXtra earlier than in PJSC, BUT the idea of changing it because people took advantage of it also makes no sense?
Well... to keep it short, PJSC banned it for a reason and we don't want this to become an Eurovision NF Second Chance song contest. Keep in mind that PJXtra is still a relatively new contest and is trying to find a balance among other contests, so further rule tweaking and changes are to be expected, like it or not. It's just a silly little song contest after all.
Also, this is why we need more veto panelists!

I am not sure I understand you here Dan, if you could please clarify. I am reading this as:

You mention something being a potential concern. The Panel eventually looks at it and might do something about this concern. But when we say we might - you don’t want us to? I am finding this a little confusing…

I guess my ideal goal was that PJSC allows them once no longer in the running for Eurovision (rather than delays until June), but my point at the time was that it would make more sense to me the other way round (eligible in PJSC but not in a contest where there's - presumably - a higher overlap of ESC followers).

I like to send new songs to contests, so PJSC's rules essentially means I'll rarely send an NF song. If Xtra joins then 4 whole months of new music for me will be basically ineligible for contests. I support @saviodxl 's statement!

I don't see the point of not allowing Eurovision NF songs until June. They're gonna be entered anyway afterwards, so instead of March becoming a "Eurovision NF Second Chance song contest", it will be in June instead.
Good point and I'm already dreading the June contest considering in the last 2 years a NF song has won. It kind of gives me this feeling of why even bother unless I'm submitting a NF song (which I guess means I'll be submitting a NF song x).

My personal preference has always been to ban them altogether. This is clearly too harsh for some but I do think they give an advantage and there is a separate contest for these songs in the Eurovision forum you can take part in.

Anyway, I don't know what the right answer is here and would love to hear more thoughts from participants.

I don't even follow Eurovision but this month I discovered a song I'd like to enter and it turns out it's an NF song from a previous cycle.
So people would have already entered it, if they thought it was good, huh?

Saving the NF songs until July means they're a) no longer brand new and b) no longer as present in people's minds as the Eurovision buzz wears off, which counters any advantage they have have due to their Eurovision tiesm it makes perfect sense to me and is much less drastic than banning them altogether.

I don't think an obscure semi finalist from Festivali i Këngës (released in December) being banned until July makes sense in the same way that a fanwank which finished 2nd in Melodifestivalen in March and is locked in to win ESC Second Chance is. With NFs spread over 4 months, surely it's better to allow them as they 'lose' their NF, rather than have an overload in July?

I don't think we have enough sources of FL bops to exclude such a large and PJ-relevant subsection of new music just for the sake of rules. And I really don't think they get any kind of advantage because it's ESC season...

Time to find out which songs finished (Finnished?) in the top 4 of the wild card round and will move on the final round of the side contest!

Due to a tie, there will actually be 5 songs advancing...

First, commiserations to Nelli Matula - Tulevaisuuteen, which I almost voted for, but ultimately didn't and it ended up one vote short of the total needed to advance. Also coming up one vote short: Chisu - Mun kulta (though another one of her songs received more votes anyway...), Jenni Vartiainen - Voulez-Vous, and Vesta - Ota varovasti.

The following songs each received 6 votes and will move on to the final round of voting:

And receiving 7 votes and also advancing to the final round:

Congratulations to the qualifying songs! Final round playlist to come tomorrow...

I voted for every one of these. Best of luck to all of them.
