I didn't want to derail the Love/Hate thread so...

I love that Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver seem like really cool games. Especially the graphics are an improvement. If only I knew Japanese!

What? There's already going to be a new one? I didn't get round to getting Diamond/Pearl/Platinum yet! *late to the party*

Silver was the last one I bought, but I've been feeling nostalgic recently... It just seems such an investment to get a Nintendo DS just to play Pokémon again though...

I was Pokemon obsessed when i was younger, and to a degree i guess i still am (well, in a nostalgia capacity i guess).

I remember when my parents finally caved in to getting me a gameboy colour for christmas and pokemon yellow, and at the time i just thought it was the best thing ever.

I think in terms of comparison, Ruby/Saphire were definitely the best - i think out of all the games, these had the best storyline and best designed game world + also the obvious advances in technology that came with it being on the gameboy advance.

Gold and Silver were by FAR the best games in the series, so buying the remakes is a must. I love that the maps are more 3D than before. The new gyms look brilliant especially.
Personally I thought Diamond and Pearl were shit. It's fun catching 500 Pokémon, sure, but I hated the world the story took place and some new Pokémon just looked ridiculous.

Oh, and as HeartGold/SilverSoul are exact remakes, you get to explore two regions and fight 16 gyms (instead of 8)!

I never played the games but I had a million cards and watched the TV show every day and used to be able to recite (or at least name most of) the original 151.

I got really annoyed when they started adding endless new ones. To this day whenever I hear someone talking about a Pokemon that wasn't one of the original 151 I feel like they aren't talking about a "real" Pokemon. That and me getting older spelled the end for me and Pokemon.

How do you get Pikachu on a bus?

You Pokemon.

My biggest Pokémon related regret is accidentally resetting the game while trying to fix the clock :(

I even had a Mew!

Did anyone ever catch any of the 'legendary' Pokémon in Silver?
All of them. Running around the entire map, constantly checking my Pokedex to find the legendary dogs was a major pain in the ass though.

I know they were the best they litereally featured everything possibly amazing and then when the made Ruby it felt like they backtracked a bit.

I have been following this for a while being a Pokemon boffin and all... (...at the age of 20 *hangs head*) Infact i was so excited about this i was going to import it from Japan, but as i would have no idea what was going on i decided against it.

If anyone would like to see some screen shots lookie here http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/pics.shtml There is also a tonne more information on that site about the game but the majority of it will be spoilers. There is a hell of alot of new things added into this remake!

Yup, i think i might have even managed to get all of them. You could use the Master Ball cheat remember to clone Master Balls and thus make sure you always had a spare one ready in case one of the legendary dogs appeared.

I didn't like Ruby and Sapphire. I love how the world was half sea and islands like, but it just didn't do it for me.
On Youtube there are loads of walkthrough video's, some HQ. Full of spoilers, of course, but really worth watching.

Yes diving was fun for the first time all though i never understood why your character didn't drown...

I will check out some youtube videos, im really interested to see how Kanto looks now because i remember it was just a barren wasteland almost in Gold/Silver. The Viridian forest had all been chopped down, the volcano on Cinnibar Island had erupted and like flattened it all and every cave/route had shrunk. I imagine it will have been totally filled out now due to the fact they can handle all the memory needed.

How awful to be called "Mankey".

Very ture but at least Mankey looks cool unlike for example Diglett which is esentially a poo with eyes and a nose...

haha! It's true. Diglett was always one of the worst looking pokemon. And i remember on the old original gameboys with the crappy graphics, the behind views of some of the pokemon would just be like splurgy blobs of pixels.

I never bothered with Pokemon when it was peaking in the UK. I used to draw the characters for all the people in my primary class though. They looked good.
