Pokémon

I wish they made Team Star actually mischievous and gave more purpose to this quest. We’re supposed to bring them down just because code name Alopecia or whatever told us to over the phone? Ok.

It's actually kind of been awhile since I felt like an evil Team in Pokemon was actually doing anything particularly evil. To be honest, I wouldn't be mad if they brought back Team Rocket into a new region trying to steal people's Pokemon and such. There was so much more dramatic intrigue there. They took over whole businesses and buildings, the leader was also a GYM LEADER. That poor person in Cerulean City got their whole house torn through by Team Rocket's diglet or whatever. It was scandalous. Pokemon needs more crime, besides the crime of selling me a $60 game that needs work still.

Given the school setting it makes sense the "evil" team would be pesky but ultimately harmless delinquents rather than actual criminals/villains. I think it's fun how Team Star plays on the whole Japanese biker gang thing, down to Clive's pompadour being the traditional hairstyle associated with that. Certainly an improvement compared to Team Yell, now that was absolutely stupid.

I just checked and they still made Apricorn Balls annoying to get (and you currently can’t even get the Safari/Sport Balls?). The Beast Ball also needs to be changed, either make it more accessible or change it’s stupid catch rate.

I honestly don’t understand why even bother with shinies unless you actually prefer the color palette, which given how garish and unfitting most of them are, I hardly doubt is often the case.

Either way the shiny color not showing up in the menu icon is a crime, but it has been thay way since they were pixel art…

grdfdggfdhf now lets not suggest people cannot like things we hate, but yes - a lot of them are garish.

Though Pokemon's whole thing is that every Pokemon is someone's favourite*. So I guess that extends to colour palettes too! Luckily for me I haven't seen any must have shines this gen. I prefer Revaroom's silver palette rather than gold but maybe I'll go for that.

*I find it hard to imagine the Rockabilly birds will be anyone's favourite and yet I'm sure someone on twitter will surprise me. Those mons feel like they were designed to be forgotten...

My friend found 3 shinies in one evening the other night... Psyduck, Magikarp and the new pig. I have been playing Pokemon games since Gold/Silver and still have yet to run into one (other than the shiny Gyarados that everyone experiences). Most of the shiny colors are ugly but there are a few that look better than the base color.

This Gen introduced some excellent Flying types - Flamigo, Bombirdier and Wattrel/Kilowattrel are all fantastic both in terms of design and usability and among my favourite new Pokémon... and then there's Clownabily

Oh no I understand that, I myself have some flop questionable faves I defend to death. I just don’t think people use a full shiny team because they prefer how each and everyone of them looks nn It’s kind of a show-off/bragging thing, surely? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.

Oh its definitely a bragging rights thing in those cases. Though given how 'easy' it is to get shinies these days, it's kinda silly haha.

I've always found a full team of shinies to have the opposite effect on me though, in every way. Just very noisy looking and projects a feeling of wasted effort lol.

Clearly you all aren’t the target audience for shiny Pokémon then, and that’s okay! I personally love them and the thrill of finding them. I’ve never dedicated this much time for shinies in any of the other games, but it’s fun, and personally increases my connection with my party Pokemon.

Also, some of them I do honestly just like the color palettes more ddd.

So Glaseado is apparently the highest level gym? No wonder I was struggling with my Dragon-heavy team last night nn. I guess I skipped a couple gyms in between. But my badges still only allow for up to level 50 Pokémon, so I'm kinda worried I'll over-level very soon.

Some of the ones that people complain barely change a thing (Blissey, Articuno, etc) are actually my favorites cause they get the color just right without changing the appeal of the design too much.

And pink platinum blonde Jynx is obviously the most gay rights aligned shiny. Maybe I should try actually getting some this time despite it being harder to spot them without the sound and sparkle…
