Pokémon

I encountered some slow down outside Levincia that lasted all of thirty seconds. That’s literally the first time on this playthrough it’s happened.

Yet if you believe the online bandwagon, the game rarely runs above 3fps and the character models constantly glitch. I’m not sure why Scarlet and Violet are being scapegoated when almost every open world game releases with a shit tonne of bugs that get patched out. Skyrim’s bugs got memed, but Game Freak gets the “you’re cancelled!” treatment. Okay.

It helps if you move it over to System memory too. I've had some lag but nothing crazy now.

My biggest enemy is POP IN. If we could move past that I'd be ecstatic

It’s so annoying to me how the Pokémon Center is streamlined with the Pokémart and the other amenities yet they somehow thought it was a good idea to divide shops by clothing style and make eyewear, footwear and the beauty salon all separate buildings I have to trudge around the city to get. Especially because they’re just menus? Make it make sense dd

Eggs can show up in the basket during a picnic if both the Pokémon are in the team, Egg Power sandwiches make the egg appear faster.

Is there a way to narrow down what egg you'll get if you've 6 Pokemon in your party? Or do you just box 4 of them?

I… don’t think there’s any conspiracy tbh.

There’s truly nothing to gain for people to lie about their experiences with the game. And there’s enough of it documented to prove that SV is in a unique situation with its bug problem within the Pokémon brand. Like, I didn’t play Skyrim, Cyberpunk or all that other stuff: if it happened there too, that’s also bad. Lol.

There is no version of this situation where GameFreak loses tbh, everyone will buy the next game. The vocal critique (or complaints) are literally the only thing that might push TPCi to make stable game releases a priority. Because otherwise they’ve sold 10 million in 3 days and have no reason to course correct. GameFreak cannot be cancelled.

Anyway - that reminds me, my game consistently slows down whenever I move around the area with Team Star Fairy base, or the spot with all the Tauros on the west side of the map. And restarting doesn’t seem to solve the issue. But it does mitigate it - was a total pain.

Thinking about it, I’m surprised the crater area was totally glitch free. (For me)

I’m happy I’ve avoided most of the texture glitches I’ve seen online, some of them are so gross looking omg.

I think it's just that when watching video compilations and constant posts and tweets of bugs and glitches it creates an impression that the game is much more broken than it actually is. Nobody is gonna experience all of that in one playthrough, it's one or two of them happening sporadically.

I already have 20+ hours in the game and aside from framerate drops I didn't experience a single "crazy", funny bug with models distorting and things like that.

Spain and [legendaries’ country] have long history, though. It’s not that random!

@soratami I’m curious if there are any Portugal references in the game besides… Smoliv? I think the auction market town is based on a Portuguese location, right?

Porto Marinada is definitely based on Portugal, it literally shares the same name and geographic location as Porto, which also has a famous big open market, Mercado do Bolhão

And the stripped houses are based on Aveiro, which is a few kilometers south of Porto, so also fits that geographical location

Cascarrafa is likely based on Alentejo, more specifically Porto Côvo

I read Alfornada might be based on Algarve too. So basically the towns in the "Portugal" part of Paldea (except for Cortondo, which is based on Córdoba) are based in Portuguese locations, which is honestly pretty amazing and not something I thought I'd ever see in a Pokémon game.

In terms of Pokémon, many of them (both ones introduced this Gen and old ones that appear in the game) are based on Iberian Peninsula fauna and flora, like the Iberian pig (Lechonk), the Iberian lynx (Sprigatito), olives (Smoliv), storks (Bombirdier), dolphins (Finizen), the Iberian ribbed newt (Clodsire), but also donkeys (Mudbray), otters (Buizel), crows (Murkrow and Corviknight) and plenty of others.

I'd still love to see a city based on Lisbon and/or islands based on Madeira and Azores, and also a Barcelos Rooster Pokémon, so fingers crossed for the DLC dd

Yeah, I kinda hate that, not just items and accessories being unnecessarily spread across a ton of different shops but also the way shops just aren't as easy to identify or spot as in previous games. Like, it's not immediately apparent whether something is a shop or just a building that looks like a shop in a town (I know shops have a special entrance mat in front of them, but that can be easy to miss). It would have been convenient if they were at least marked in the mini-map. Having to open the map, zoom in so shop icons appear and then hover over the various icons (since multiple shops share the same icon) to find the one you're looking for is quite a chore.

I don't hate the idea of items being spread across different cities. It's a gesture in the direction of giving them more character and a reason to go back to them which I think is very welcome. But they've not really put much thought in what goes where. Why the hell are herbs sold in the frosty mountain village.

The Battle Items in Delibird Presents are also spread around different cities. Extremely annoying and nonsensical (not to mention how much shit “Battle Items” comprises in the Bag pocket, we need a few more subdivisions ddd).

Yeah, there definitely should be a separate tab for held items at least, it really doesn't make sense for them to be lumped together with evolution stones, exp candies and a ton of other stuff, when they have a completely different purpose.

The items being spread with various stores is very Pokémon honestly but still disappointing since this game has a central hub. Kalos has the only “consumer friendly” hub where shops are in separate areas but each shop included all of whatever it is available (shout out to the Pokéball Emporium aka my favorite store).
