Pokémon

No, it’s not “inadequate”. Plenty of Switch games look and play fantastic.
It absolutely is inadequate, especially when you pair it with Pokémon’s recent ambitions and aggressive deadlines. Let’s be real, those deadlines aren’t gonna change, and nobody is gonna say no to a more powerful Switch, which by the way still uses a chip from 2015.

The hardware really isn’t the problem, it’s the deadlines and their inexperience.

The engine wasn’t right for what they wanted to create and ultimately caused the problems in performance. I was reading this today via Serebii on Resetera. I’m sure deadlines affected that too. What I’m trying to say is starting with a new engine designed properly for new hardware is what they’ll be doing to get it right next time.

Right but are the "plenty of switch games" the same size asset wise as Pokemon? People underestimate that it is partially the timeline / turnaround for the game BUT ALSO the fact there are a lot of Pokemon, each animation (idle, attack, sleep, run, walk, etc) need to fit along with all the various attack FX animation.

For what people are wanting for a Pokemon game, sure a better system would help but more importantly better optimization – something that GameFreak has been known to be bad at in the past.

But what happens when the Switch 2 rolls around and Pokémon is still running and looking a decade behind everyone else?

Blaming it on the hardware is... a choice, especially since the Switch houses massive games like *ahem* the Xenoblade trilogy which looks incredible, has hundreds of unique playable characters across the series, over 20 hours of voiced cutscenes each, and multiple unique systems within each game... and mind you, MonolithSoft doesn't have 1/1000th of GameFreak's resources. And all of them are at least 13 GB, without the DLCs, against Sword and Shield's 10 GB.

Did I solely blame the hardware? No. I specifically said timelines and a notorious history of being unable to optimize their code for systems is to blame... but having less Pokémon in a release makes it less bloated and allows it to "work".

I just saw the leak about Let's go Wooper and Togepei . . . Not my first choice for gen mascots but I'd be down for another let's go game.
There is no way that’s real. Togepi, sure. It is iconic and nostalgia bait to people who watched the anime back in the day, but Wooper is just a “meme mon” of the cute variety, but it’s not mascot level. They would sooner use something like Pichu or Marill.

Yeah I feel like they would go with two babies. Make it Cleffa so Clefairy officially becomes a “starter”, but then that would be two Fairy types.

Ugh, as if they're giving the iconic Gold and Silver the 'Let's Go' treatment (if true).

I'd love to know if any sort of follow up is planned for Legends Arceus, now that I stanned!

If Lets Go would happen id imagine they'd have different mascots than Togepi and Wooper. Question is what would be the point of a new Lets Go when Pokemon GO is kinda dead? I'd imagine a new GSC remake would be more traditional and done by Ilca (could be as faithful as BDSP or slightly changed). I guess we will find out in about 3 weeks. Legends will probably happen aswell. Its hard to tell whether is Johto or Unova though.

Let's Go Eevee is the best looking & running Pokemon game on the Switch and I'd prefer a Let's Go of Silver/Gold than a Brilliant Diamond/Shitting Poo style remake.
