Pop Underrated - Documentary Ideas

Bit of a shameless plug thread but in 2021 I started up my YouTube channel and made documentaries on some of my favourite pop artists and deep dives on some favourite albums.

You can see the full list of documentaries here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEOFhdU1L8A2qGZKv4VxpKA

In 2022 I'd love some suggestions for what you might like to see next. Bear in mind that it has to be an artist or album that has enough content for me to use to create a documentary to begin with.

So, yeah, drop me some suggestions and thanks for anyone who's already watched, liked, subscribed or left comments on previous videos!

Dannii Minogue would be a great one, also a deep dive into another Kylie album. I’d love Let’s Get to It but it’s her least popular album so probably not a good choice for attracting viewers.

Just noticed you’ve never done a full on Kylie documentary, sacrilege!

I have Dannii noted already, it's just finding the time...

I get a lot of requests on social media for full-on Kylie or Sugababes documentaries. There's just so much content to cover it would take me a very long time. Also, with Kylie, by the time I finished she'd probably have announced a new album and then it almost becomes 'dated'. A bit like my Natalie Imbruglia one!

I do enjoy the 'deep dives' into particular albums though and they often take less time to piece together. I have considered doing one on Body Language at some point.

I loved the Sugababes documentaries and would watch the hell out of Girls Aloud ones done in a similar format. I know we have Ten Years at the Top and tons of footage etc already on YouTube, and that there's way less drama/significant moments for GA, but seeing everything compiled by album/era would be so neat.

I may do that. Thanks for watching the Sugababes ones!

Just recently finished the Sugababes episodes, and I can truly say they informed me so much and changed my whole perspective on the band!

Just chiming in to say I would absolutely love a Kelis deep dive - it would be so interesting to hear about the earlier days and the controversy / shadiest of her early albums and time with The Neptunes, her split from the team with Kelis Was Here and her foray into fully-fledged EDM with Flesh Tone. I imagine there’s so much more I’d have no idea about too!

Hey,

As well as documentaries I am thinking of adding to my channel visual podcast episodes where myself and a guest spend 25-30 minutes discussing a particular album or artist (probably one not already featured on my channel).
I’m thinking this would be quite casual and recorded via Skype or Teams etc. then I’d do some editing afterwards and add it to my channel.

If anyone has any ideas about this, to what they’d like to see or if they want to get involved in my channel and participate in one of these video calls let me know!

This is such a brilliant idea for your channel! You should definitely have guests who are passionate about the artist you're talking about. They can share their insights and perspectives on the artist's journey and achievements. It would be so fun and informative to hear from them!
