The Remains of the Day absolutely kicked me sideways in the end, damn. The entire last stretch of the book was so cathartic thematically but also a bit devastating even if it did seem to frame things in a more optimistic tone. One of my favorite reads this year for sure.
Watch the Emma Thompson/Anthony Hopkins adaptation if you get the chance. I think it does a great job of portraying what’s a very internalised narrative.

I have just bought To Paradise and whew, i'm not ready for the emotial suffering that this book will put me through.

Read some great books already this year:

* The Overstory
* Still Life
* Riambel (picked up at random in a bookshop because the cover was nice, and absolutely blown away - my favourite read in a long time)
* Women Talking
* The Pachinko Parlour
* Our Wives Under the Sea

All fantastic.

Oh by the way, this is tomorrow!

Apparently one of the judges has accidentally let it slip that Ruth & Pen by Emilie Pine is likely on the list. Photo of her reading for the prize on her Instagram last week, and you could see the distinctive endpapers.

I read Bewilderment last month - the writing was just lovely- & very keen to get into The Overstory soon.

FINE! I started reading Project Hail Mary. Waking up and being ripped? Now that's the dream.
Dd I'm perched for you. Not sure how far you got but there's more ripping where that came from!

I'm listening to the fourth installment of the Morgan Brice gay cop and sorta kinda psychic stores. I discovered the first one during a big life change year, really first year of being a proper-ish adult in hindsight, and I fell in love with the ridiculously perfect relationship with double X-rated sex scenes that prominently feature the word "length." Kale Williams sounds hot too.

Ahhh I'd love to hear your thoughts as you get further into it. It's so engaging! I'm still thinking about it days after completing it.
Almost finished it. 82% read, 1 hour left. Aren't e-readers amazing?
At times it's very scientific. But that way you learn a lot as well, which is nice. And there was always happening something new. The variety between the flashbacks and the present kept it interesting too. And now I can't wait to find out how it will end!

I CANNOT. The fourth installment of my favorite white gay nonsense, Morgan Brice's Badlands series, is called Loose Ends. IT ENDS WITH SOMEONE'S BARE ASS STICKING OUT OF A HOSPITAL GOWN. Literally the last sentence. Loose ends! Concept novel!

I should finish Project Hail Mary today/tomorrow. I honestly didn't expect to be giggling/laughing so much with it. Somehow it put me in the mood for some Discworld ññ

ANYWAY, BOOKER TIME

I've heard of none of these fffff
