I have no phone signal in my house so I have to keep WhatsApp and Instagram is how I find out info about a book club I'm in (no one seems to want to swap numbers) so I feel stuck with those.

I’m sure that’s the idea. He just wants to use it for propaganda purposes. Screw the algorithm. They’ll just make it so Right-wing crap gets bumped up regardless of users’ viewing habits. People are addicted to that app and can’t get off of it. They’ll stay on it and Musk will happily warp their minds. The threads on Reddit from users are quite frightening. They can’t live without it. It’s like being addicted to heroin.

Honestly everything is so much more demented now than I ever dreamed possible. I'm ashamed to admit that I never really gave the 1968 election a second glance beyond the infamy of Nixon afterwards -- it's always been a historical blind spot and Jesus what a blind spot it was -- but this episode of The Rest Is History fucked me up. The connection between Trump and George Wallace and how what is happening now is the (likely final) manifestation of something terrible that happened in a terrible crazy year that no one talks about anymore? Like, I can't imagine witnessing this happening in my lifetime and not easily putting two and two together and going, "Oh..... fuck."

Which means they all really, truly do support the fuck and what he wants to do to us. It's already been said ad infinitum here but it's a lot to process for me right now.


The bits with Curtis LeMay though... comedy gold. Still unbelievably horrifying but. Wow.

Ugh though seriously, we have 4.2 days left. I'm looking to start doing some real preparations for my own mental health as well as my and my family's survival, safety from natural disasters and political oppression and everything in between. If we think our government's apathy towards us is bad now...

Guess this is the part I finally go to https://ready.gov like the radio says I should do. (And everyone should probably do this before Trump takes over and lets Robert F Kennedy and the MyPillow guy completely rewrite it and turn it into a conservative version of Goop.)
