I would suggest that people ignore Ogles' stunt. There's not way it'll pass and we need to train our eye on the more destructive and unpopular stuff coming down the pike. Same with the Musk salute.

Focus on other stuff that will stick with the public - e.g. pardoning the J6 defendants who attacked Capitol Police. Just my two cents.

Constitutional amendment to allow Trump third term introduced in the House

A Republican House member introduced a resolution Thursday to amend the U.S. Constitution in order to allow President Donald Trump — and any other future president — to be elected to a third term in the White House.

Trump “has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal,” said Rep. Andy Ogles of Tennessee, who proposed extending the current maximum of two elected terms.

I’m totally fine with them continuing to load up the congressional pipeline with nonsense that has zero chance of getting through.

They’re raiding cities as we speak, churches, schools, bars, arresting and deporting people. The White House is releasing photos of them cuffed being led onto aircrafts.

And now this…

Mississippi GOP bill institutes $1K bounty per undocumented migrant

New law creates the "Mississippi Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program" — which pays people to hunt down suspected illegal immigrants.

H.B. 1484 will pay $1,000 CASH reward to citizens "for each successful deportation they help facilitate."

It also makes it a felony if convicted of trespass by an illegal alien — carrying a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

"This reminds me of the slave patrols, where in the 1700s and 1800s, there’s a group of militia that was hunting slaves, and I doubt we want to go back to that," explained Mauricia Calvo, CEO of Latino Memphis.

"Quite frankly, this is inconsistent with the values of conservatives. They need to go to church on Sunday and ask their God, 'How does this align with our values.'"

This is so dark and evil.

Trump demands California voter ID law in exchange for wildfire relief

President Donald Trump on Friday said he would demand that California overhaul its election laws and reverse environmental policies as a condition of any federal funds to help the state recover from wildfires that have devastated the Los Angeles area in recent weeks.

He also claimed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had mishandled efforts to help North Carolinians recover from Hurricane Helene and suggested that the White House and Republican National Committee would somehow take over the distribution of any relief funds authorized by Congress.

What the actual fuck.

I'm so sad and so angry right now.

Echoing this!

My two cents are to ditch January 6 and focus on Trump not doing anything to address the cost of living.
Yeah, if January 6 didn't stick with the public in the first place, then I don't see why doubling down on it would make a difference in 2025. Like, everyone's material livelihood is so far removed from that. We need to focus on real bread and butter issues.

(I also don't need to hear Dems going on about police. Conservatives are going to view them as radical left defunders no matter what, as much as the Dem establishment capitulates to the right.)

Agreed. My MAGA-pilled family are supportive of the J6 pardons, believing that the convictions were a witch hunt by the Democrats and establishment against conservatives. But they don’t trust any of the Billionaires cozying up to Trump. When I’ve pushed them on their skepticism they’re not sure how this partnership could benefit the working class, so there’s common ground to be found with kitchen table issues.

Respectively disagree. People will know their own material circumstances, and they'll be able to tell that Trump hasn't bought prices down. I'm not saying that people should be banging on about Jan 6th in 2026/beyond but if the choice this week was discussing the Elon Musk salute vs the Jan 6th pardons; the latter is more factual and places Republicans on defensive vs the former which can easily be swatted away as hysteria by low information voters.

Basically if Snott Jennings on CNN wants to have the fight, maybe that's a losing issue.

He is essentially going to collapse the entire federal gov within the next month none of this will matter. Not to be bleak, but I suggest unplugging and enjoying the last couple of weeks / maybe months that we have.
Him declaring martial law suddenly doesn’t feel out of the realm of possibility at this point.
