You all screenshotting instead of linking that shit platform thank you all.

I respect that it's the best solution for now but I just want to chime in that screenshots are terrible from an accessibility perspective, and should not be seen as a permanent solution. If somebody uses a screen reader they're effectively excluded from the discussion.

(I'm not aware of any active users here who actually use a screen reader, but literally anyone of us could end up having to use it from one day to another because of an injury or illness.)

But even beyond that, there are marginalized communities whose biggest and most impactful tool has been use of Twitter / X, communities that have active members on this site. In ways it's a huge privilege to be able to cast aside a platform when it may not have the same significance for oneself, but that transition isn't going to be overnight or even fast-tracked when it's been used to galvanize the communities that one belongs to. It's a much larger conversation and not so cut-and-dried.

The answer is violence, unironically and unfortunately, as it always has been. Carefully constructed, tightly executed, well-propagandized violence. Seeing Jeffries talking about doing ANYTHING because the CEOs wanted makes it emphatically clear that the Democrats will not be the vehicle through which fascism is defeated. It's hilarious ("hilarious") hearing the average GOPer still criticize the Democrats as "evil", "deep state" conniving child-innocence-destroyers being led by Beyoncé and the rest of the Illuminati. No honey, they're just stupid.

I suspect/hope there's already budding revolutionaries in dark corners of the Internet/quiet egalitarian communes in rural Minnesota and the like. Unfortunately at the rate Trump et al are moving, the window of opportunity is only getting narrower with each day.

And with Jeffries and the like being ordained by capital as the alternative leadership, it's not even enough to destroy Trump and his cronies. So... burn it all down and hope for an ethical conniving strongperson to take the reins, piss on the constitution, and start over. We can't even put it to a vote without a phenomenal brain-cleaning propaganda campaign first, because we'd just elect another Trump.

No matter how the coming years go it's gonna be bleak, and getting the hell out of Idaho continues to be my objective. I'm having a good day for some arbitrary reason, so I'm trying to use it to prepare and work on my plans for the year and spend time with loved ones while I still can.

Happy super bowl to those who celebrate.

Well, not nobody. That Dems didn't want the kind of new media focused expertise of people like AOC and instead rally around octogenarians dying of throat cancer feels endemic of why we're exactly here.

Literally the only thing I want to hear coming out of Democrat politicians' mouths for the next four years is variations of 'billionaire assholes stealing your future'.

Jeffries saying "there's nothing we can do and we'll simply work to find bipartisan solutions" is so.. ??? (cc: @Hyrulian the quote below... dear god jnkjnkj)

Like it's nothing against these people personally. I link to Bernie because Joseph Crowley's age shouldn't disqualify him if he were effective. And I find Jeffries' open corruption more offensive than Crowley's media incomptence.

But to see the direct contrast of AOC & Bernie speaking to an urgency of the moment to stop authoritarianism and billionaire oligarchs versus the way Jeffries is trying to win back billionaires and Crowley doesn't know really how to even use social media is so.... our battles are not generational but ideological in terms of Dem leadership.
