Jeffries saying "there's nothing we can do and we'll simply work to find bipartisan solutions" is so.. ??? (cc: @Hyrulian the quote below... dear god jnkjnkj)

Like it's nothing against these people personally. I link to Bernie because Joseph Crowley's age shouldn't disqualify him if he were effective. And I find Jeffries' open corruption more offensive than Crowley's media incomptence.

But to see the direct contrast of AOC & Bernie speaking to an urgency of the moment to stop authoritarianism and billionaire oligarchs versus the way Jeffries is trying to win back billionaires and Crowley doesn't know really how to even use social media is so.... our battles are not generational but ideological in terms of Dem leadership.

I just….don’t understand how Jeffries landed this role? He’s a poor public speaker, is seemingly ten beats off the political pulse, has no ideological core, etc. Say what you want about Nancy, but she had an iron grip on the party and could pass monumental legislation with a snap of her finger. It’s just weird that HE was her political protege of all people.

I fucking hate Hakeem Jeffries. That quote is the most upsetting thing I've read this week. Asking for sympathy/pity and acting like they are powerless... "we're just as upset as you all about Trump and the GOP going full fascist, we are, we swear! Buuutttttt we only have 47%(I'm guessing) control of the House. And if you look at this pie chart, see how the Republican chunk -- that's the red chunk and we're blue, okay? -- is bigger. That's why it's more important than EVER that you vote for Democrats in the 2026 midterms!"

What kind of example does he think he's setting? When things get tough and literally evil people actively do evil things in plain sight, don't do anything until the parliamentarian says you can?

I would love to sit down with Nancy Pelosi, no cameras, and just ask, "What the hell???? *points to the last page worth of material*"

If I hear bipartisanship one more time...........

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children site scrubbed of transgender kids

The Trump administration's relentless campaign against transgender Americans has taken another dangerous turn. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a critical resource for tracking and protecting at-risk youth, has erased all references to LGBTQ+ and particularly trans children from its public materials. The Verge reports that the purge came after the Department of Justice threatened to pull the organization's federal funding if it didn't comply with the administration's anti-trans directives.

This directive follows Trump's day one executive order eliminating federal recognition of transgender people, a sweeping and cruel policy shift designed to strip trans individuals of legal protections. The order mandates that all government agencies adopt rigid, binary definitions of sex and remove any acknowledgment of gender diversity from official records and resources.

Realistically what can they do, though? They’ll be outvoted every time.
I just can't get behind this and don't want to give the Democrats a pass. Yeah they don't have a majority, and with this defeatist attitude a whopping 3? weeks into this second Trump term, they can count on having no power at all by this time next year. The Republicans wouldn't be meekly asking the country for a hug right now if the tables were turned.

I understand the feeling like "they're just going to get outvoted" and I hope you don't take this as an attack, Rei! I'm just horrified that the Trump regime is at this point and we're still not even a full month into the second term. My entire wellbeing is shattered. I'm properly a mess, I *need* to know that we're doing more than just rolling over and taking it, so Hakeem doing exactly that in front of cameras today really fucking sucks.

We're losing critical people left and right in the public sector, watching orange guy shutter entire government agencies. They were created for very important reasons, have played an important role in shaping a better life in the USA, and their separation from the government is essential and by design. But it takes longer than a TikTok video to explain it so, goodbye, they're trump hating unchristian communists lol MAGA!!!

The Democrats need to stop running around as if it's still business as usual. They need to start spending money like their life depends on it, because it does.

Offhand, they could be pouring money into commercials, appearances/speeches, organic "catchy" opposition that can take off with the public. They actually managed to do a good job with Kamala's early campaign before Liz Cheney started popping up, so they've shown they can do things like this.

Furthermore, fund surveillance (bop!) and pay insiders at the GOP, get tea, scald with tea. Expose ghouls. Create infighting within the Republican ranks, find these people's buttons and push them, get creative! You can't tell me that it's hard to phish Donald Trump, yanno?

I cannot accept an opposition message of "we sure appreciate all the money you've given us over the years; we will join the American people in praying for change!"

He should then speak with Senate Dems if they're seemingly on the complete opposite side of an issue because it looks embarrassing for Senate Dems to talk about holding votes to incur a government shutdown while Jeffries explicitly acts bewildered when asked about this plans and asks the reporter why they'd do such.

It doesn't matter if the House can pass appropriation bills and legislation with a simple majority. It looks incoherent for Dems to argue they need to rally together and block Trump's agenda in one chamber while the other chamber calls for bipartisan solutions. Are they trying to protect conservative Dems despite this strategy literally derailing Biden's entire agenda and presidency?

Why can't Jeffries say he's committed to have his full Democratic caucus block Trump's agenda and that they're working on pressuring 3-4 Republicans who barely won their races to fold?

The Justice Department on Monday told federal prosecutors in Manhattan to drop the corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams of New York, claiming his indictment last fall came too near the 2025 mayoral primary and had limited his ability to cooperate in President Trump’s immigration crackdown.

Riiiiiiiiight…

I can't believe all these trans and black air traffic controllers are deliberately causing accidents to make Trump look bad!

Kidding aside, I'm bothered. Reading what little is known it sounds like a simple mistake, the other incidents read like that too. I'd love to see some answers so that my own upcoming trip to Scottsdale doesn't fill me with dread.
