Iowa Bill Expands “Don’t Say Gay” To All Grades K-12

Iowa Public Radio reports:

LGBTQ topics would be banned from middle school and high school curriculum under a bill advancing in the Iowa House that seeks to expand a law that currently applies to Kindergarten through sixth grade. Republican legislators passed a law in 2023 that bans instruction about gender identity and sexual orientation before seventh grade. That law is being challenged in federal court. The bill advanced Wednesday by Republicans on a House subcommittee would extend that prohibition through high school.
Rep. Skyler Wheeler, R-Hull, and Rep. Henry Stone, R-Forest City, advanced the bill to the full House Education Committee. Wheeler said parents are frequently bringing him examples of things in schools that he said are “absurd,” including rainbow flags that he said are larger than the American or Iowa flag. “I’m tired of having parents bring lesson plans to me where it’s clearly pushing an agenda,” he said. “I am sick of it, and I know Iowans are sick of it. That’s why we are sitting in a supermajority.”

In a way I even understand the whole tariff thing. The last couple decades have been absolutely devastating on communities and blue collar workers because stuff gets produced cheaper somewhere else and is then imported at almost no cost because logistics are dirt cheap (also on the backs of who gets to transport it). But not everyone can or should work in tech, it absolutely is necessary to have a strong industrial base to account for the diversity in workforce any country has. But job creation is not going to happen by randomly disrupting stuff with blanket tariffs. Companies have supply lines. Stuff gets made out of parts from here and there and there. They can’t adapt in a week and they can’t be left at the whim of some shithead who decides based on his daily mood. I guess what I‘m trying to say is for the sake of workers the idea of being a little bit more protective is not actually bad, but this? It will never work. It will make it worse for every company, for every worker, for every other country. It‘s so fucking stupid. Like a toddler‘s understanding of the world.. Also, let‘s not give him the benefit of the doubt of actually caring about anyone else than rich people.

It's crazy because Biden was so incredibly successful at bringing back manufacturing jobs and investment into American industries — primarily in red states at that! He was the first president to actually fulfill that decades long promise to bring those kinds of jobs back to the US and it completely flopped politically. Republicans voted en masse against the CHIPS Act / the Infrastructure Act / the IRA / etc yet took all the credit for it and were seemingly rewarded while Dems completely dropped the ball on messaging these accomplishments. It's maddening.

Meanwhile Trump came up with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the thing that replaced NAFTA. So why do we need to have tariffs? It's like saying that beautiful deal he brokered was a failure.

That agreement would be the one he was apparently referencing from the Oval Office when he said “Who the hell signed these deals? They’re so bad.”

Just once I want a Trumpet to see that and go “You did, idiot!” Just once! But I’ll probably be in a throuple with Brett Goldstein and Jonathan Bailey before that happens.

I saw in some shitty content mill that Elon is trying to build up his "fatherly" image, kii, and Claire tweeted her upset at child, I believe this is the one named X1 VTR 3.0, is having his image used for daddy's political gains.

I didn't think Grimes was engaging in the social media world at all (ignorance is bliss I guess), but if she is then you'd best believe I'm seated and listening. I'd love for the white privilege technonatalist brainwashing to wear off just in time for Claire to chaos.
