The level of contempt and hatred I have for Joe Biden, Jen O'Malley-Dillon, Stephanie Cutter, and Mike Donilon.....I hope they are fucking treated with derision and disgust for the rest of their careers. People like this are egomaniacs, they don't care about the money, they care about the influence, and the power.

I hoped they're striped naked of those things for the rest of the lives.

Trump expected to invoke wartime Alien Enemies Act to carry out mass deportations

As early as Friday, President Donald Trump is expected to invoke the Alien Enemies Act -- a wartime law that allows the president to detain or deport the natives and citizens of an enemy nation -- as part of the efforts to carry out mass deportations, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The Department of Defense is not expected to have a role in the invoking of the authority, which could be used to deport some migrants without a hearing.

There have been discussions inside the administration about invoking the act, multiple sources said.

Trump had previously said on the campaign trail that he planned to invoke the act.

The act hasn't been used since World War II, when it was used to detain Japanese Americans.

B.C. woman detained at U.S. border, sent to Arizona detention facility in chains

As a Canadian on a work visa in the States, this sent me into the absolute worst anxiety spiral today. I'm not sure about the specifics of her entry/visa application obviously, but there is NO reason anyone should be detained or sent to an ICE facility when normal process is just rejection or bar from entry. But border agents and ICE don't even need a legitimate reason anymore it seems and people who are here legally are just as much in danger now. I'm so lucky I'm in NYC, but I honestly don't even feel safe sharing I'm from Canada anymore.

Needless to say, I'm staying put and not travelling (or sadly, going home to visit my parents) anytime soon. I'm just too scared to do a re-entry.

Is anyone else noticing the increasing trend of liberals trying to scapegoat Palestine supporters for Harris' disastrous campaign? It's especially visible on Reddit and other places where centrists congregate. It feels like center-left forces are aligning with Trump's aim of making pro-Palestine sentiment a criminal act and pushing it out of mainstream thought. If their goal was to get the scold the left into getting in line, it's failing: I have never felt more alienated from the Democratic party, and I have been a very active Dem in the past.

I'm starting to wonder if this might be a bit coordinated? We know artificially promoted subreddits like /r/worldnews have a history of being moderated by hardcore IDF supporters.

There’s obviously more to this story. Likely she somehow demonstrated immigrant intent while on the TN, which isn’t allowed, and then tried to re-enter without advanced parole.

I agree - but neither of those should lead to someone being detained in a detention facility for 11 days, which is my point.

Regardless of the true intent in this case, I would be frightened too. All it takes now is catching a border patroller on a bad day to ruin your life. I don't think it would happen to you -- again, the context -- but it's totally something my anxiety would freak out about. I'm sorry that my country and its """law enforcement""" are treating people like this. And we're only two months into this term... ugh.
