- You are free to use your own personal charts from the time (if you have them) or create an updated list for this chart.

- Please rank your songs from your favourite downwards. (eg #1 down to #100). Your #1 gets 100 points, #2 gets 99 points etc

- The weekly PJOPS Retrochart is compiled from accumulated points each week.

- It would be fantastic if you could regularly contribute lists but understandably there may be weeks you can not. If someone fails to contribute towards a weekly chart their previous week’s choices will be frozen and contribute to the chart but the points will be halved. This is to prevent wild fluctuations in chart positions depending on contributions.

- There are no tied positions and in the event of a points tie the song gaining most points or losing fewer points will chart higher.

Phil Collins makes it three weeks at the top with "You can't hurry love" but he'd better watch out as Men at Work's "Down Under" shoots up from 29 to 2 this week - a contender for the top for next week? BMRB are back from their Christmas holidays just long enough to produce their final UK Singles chart. Chart compilation will change to Gallup from next week after BMRB have been at the helm for 13 years but lost the contract last spring after Gallup promised to computerise the compilation method and improve the accuracy of the charts by making hyping a great deal harder. BRMB bow out of the charts by awarding a fourth week at the top for Renee & Renato, "Save Your Love" is going nowhere as it sells another 60,000 copies in the post Christmas slump and it ends the year with a sale of 456,000 copies, it is likely that due to the fact that BMRB did not produce a chart last week which included the run up to the big day that the song sold considerably more but that's all that it will be officially credited with (another "issue" which Gallup have vowed to resolve). It was almost overtaken by Phil Collins who jumps 6-2 (56,000) with his version of “You Can’t Hurry Love” and looks like the main benefactor from that slump.

One of the hit Children’s shows of 1982 was “The Keith Harris Show” and the character Orville The Duck (named after the Wright brother), that success translates into a chart hit this week with “Orville’s Song” which must be the recipient of many a gift voucher or Christmas money given to the kids- it moves 33-8 (38,000).

Dionne Warwick has never managed back to back top 10 hits in her career- until today. The Gibb brothers penned "All The Love In The World" charges 14-10 (34,000), parent album "Heartbreaker" is already her best selling LP and this week moves back into the top 5 having peaked at No 3 back in November.

The big post Christmas shake up has already begun with winners and losers. Among the winners are David Essex (7-3, 49,000), and Modern Romance (8-4, 46,000), both may be outside bets for No 1 next week, but the losers make up the majority of the top 10. Madness can't progress at all holding at No 5 (44,000), whilst heading down are Culture Club (4-6, 43,000), Shakin Stevens 2-7 (41,000) and David Bowie & Bing Crosby 3-9 (35,000) who all feel the winter chill.
