Mike Oldfield gains enough to stay ahead of most of the competition but is still some way off challenging our top two.

Irene Cara is still gaining but the gap to the summit marginally widens this week as she completes a month as runner up. Can she sneak the top spot after weeks of waiting in the same way Bowie did or is our chart champion in it for the long haul?

Short of some catastrophe this should certify Silver next week.

Chartfile w/e 2nd July 1983:
The Police make it Four weeks at the summit with "Every breath you take" and is more or less the sound of Summer 1983 as it's topping charts around the world! They are probably one of the biggest/hottest bands on the planet right now. They are about to embark on a big world tour and have some very interesting support acts opening for them (The Beat and REM to name but two...in the past they've had U2, Bow Wow Wow)
Way behind "Every breath you take" is Irene Cara's "Flashdance...what a feeling" who does a "Vienna" (stuck at Number Two for four weeks now!). Mike Oldfield is stuck at Number Three and Michael Jackson stays at Number 7. Climbing inside the top ten this week are Bucks Fizz, Rod Stewart, Donna Summer and Shalamar. Heading down are David Bowie and Heaven 17. Who will be next week's Number One? Stay tuned only @phoenix123 has the answers!
