This is Rod's fifth top 40 hit and only his second to reach the top ten. By far his biggest hit so far was 1981's Young Turks which narrowly missed the summit peaking at #2 behind Foreigner in January 1982. Can this one go all the way?

The Police dominate the retrocharts this week topping four out of five charts with the biggest weekly tally since November 1982 (The Day Before You Came by ABBA). It's only their second chart topper following Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic which was at the summit for 5 weeks in Oct/Nov 1981.

Chartfile w/e 11th June 1983
Congratulations to The Police who have the new Number One with "Every breath you take" taking a big lead over the Number Two song by Irene Cara "Flashdance...what a feeling" which is still climbing up to Number Two. Also climbing are Yazoo, Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Rod Stewart. A lot of non-movers in the top ten this week:
Wham!, Heaven 17 and Spandau Ballet. Heading down are Hall and Oates! Can anyone catch up with The Police next week? Stay tuned!
