This is the second single from Thompson Twins fourth album Into The Gap which has built on the UK #2 success of their previous album and entered at #1 in the UK where it remains for a third week depriving Queen of an entry at #1 with their new album!

The single is down 5-9 in the UK this week. Similarly it is down across all our retrocharts but actually climbs 14-10 thanks to a bit of a vacuum at the bottom of the top ten. It becomes their third retrochart top ten after Love On Your Side (#6) and Hold Me Now (#2) in 1983.

Nik Kershaw's debut hit finally breaches the top ten. This remains stuck at UK #4 for a second week while his debut album Human Racing enters at UK #9. It comes with an eye-catching MTV baiting sci-fi music video using chroma key special effects filmed in St James Court Hotel in London.

The band made a single appearance at a US festival last year earning a Guinness World Record $1.5 million in the process. Their new album 1984 was recorded at Eddie Van Halen's newly built studio.

The single vaults 20-10 this week in the UK and remains US #1 for a third week.

A third week at the summit! It also spends a second week as UK #1. it misses out on the hat trick in the US and it looks like the challenge is over as it moves 2-3 losing out to Cyndi Lauper this week.

It barely scraped the top twenty in @Eric Generic's chart last week?

Chartfile W/e 10th March 1984
Congratulations to Nena who makes it three weeks at the top with "99 Red Balloons" - they are still the UK Mainstream Chart's Number One as well! Van Halen climb to Number Two with "Jump", also climbing are Rockwell, The Re-Flex and Thomas Dolby. Rebounding to find a place in the top ten this week are Nik Kershaw and The Thompson Twins. Shannon stays static at Number 6 yet again! Heading down are Kool and the Gang and Queen. Can Lionel Richie crack the top ten next week? Stay tuned as only @phoenix123 has the answers!
