  4. Only one new top ten hit this week but it's the very top of the chart that matters most and it's the closet our top two have been for a long time - only 6 points in it.

Wham! move up a spot to #7 out-peaking their debut #8 hit Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do) but they have some way to go to even match their last hit Young Guns (Go For It) which made #3.

Spandau Ballet follow fellow british group Duran Duran (who hit #4 last month with Is There Something I Should Know?) in under performing as their latest also misses the top three!

Michael Jackson suffers significant losses this week but still makes it 2 months in the top three.

A fortnight at the top for Bowie but his lead is slashed this week to just 6 points. It is his twelfth week at the summit in total across four singles. If he remains at the top next week it will draw him level with Michael Jackson for most total weeks at the top.

David Bowie makes it two weeks at the summit with "Let's Dance" but right behind him are Hall and Oates, Heaven 17, Human League, Wham! and Yazoo all climbing inside the top ten. New Edition are stuck at Number 10 and heading down are Michael Jackson, Spandau Ballet and Tears For Fears. Can The Police make it into the top ten next week? only @phoenix123 has the answers - stay tuned!
