The highest new entry this week is by The Human League who come crashing in at Number 6 with "Mirror Man":
Tears For Fears make it two weeks at the summit with "Madworld":
Cubfile:
It’s a very strong top ten at the moment. Tears For Fears had to fight some very tough competition as the rest of the top ten are on the way up and gaining cubplay – including the non-mover at Number Three which is Eddy Grant who is Number One on the Mainstream UK Chart for the second week but “I don’t wanna dance" is stuck at Number Three in the HMV Retrochart! Hall and Oates move from 5 to 2 with “Maneater” – it has just entered the US Hot 100 top 10! Marvin Gaye makes a strong jump from 11 to 4 with a song title causing problems for some DJs but not for us cubsters – it’s called “Sexual Healing”! Wham also make a strong move from 15 to 5 with “Young Guns (go for it)” and at Number Six this week we have the week’s highest new entry – a welcome return for The Human League who do Motown in synth pop style on “Mirror Man” The rest of the top ten are also climbing Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney, Heaven 17, Orange Juice and Men at work
The longest runner on the HMV Retrochart is “Six months in a leaky boat” by Split Enz which falls to Number 42 after 12 weeks on the HMV Retrochart.
Next Week could see new entries from:
Ultravox, Madness, Culture Club, Adam Ant, Shalamar, Bucks Fizz, The Cure and The Pale Fountains – stay tuned!
