Duran Duran have an instant and eighth top ten hit. It's their third single to enter straight into the top ten following 1982's Save A Prayer which crashed in at #7 and peaked at #2 and Is There Something I Should Know which entered earlier this year at #5 but could only manage a #4 peak!

Billy Joel is finally back in the top ten after a three year wait. His only previous top ten hit was It's Still Rock & Roll To Me which hit #8 in September 1980. He's since struggled to get a major hit, at best making the top 30 at the end of last year with Pressure #27 and Allentown #18. The lead single from his new album An Innocent Man petered out at #57 but the follow-up is already his highest peaking single within a month of charting!

Chartfile w/e 29th October 1983
Lionel Richie makes it two weeks at the top with "All night long (all night)" but climbing inside the top ten are Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson, Billy Joel and The Rocksteady Crew. Duran Duran come shooting in at Number 9 with their brand new single called "Union of the snake"! There are three further non-movers Culture Club, Howard Jones, Tracey Ullman. Heading down are Men Without Hats and David Bowie. That's October done. Can Lionel do the hattrick? Only @phoenix123 has the answers - stay tuned!
