- Your #1 gets 100 points, #2 gets 99 points etc

- The weekly PJOPS Retrochart is compiled from accumulated points each week.

- It would be fantastic if you could regularly contribute lists but understandably there may be weeks you can not. If someone fails to contribute towards a weekly chart their previous week’s choices will be frozen and contribute to the chart but the points will be halved. Well it ended up being a lot closer than first indications would suggest with Michael Jackson’s “One Day In Your Life” looking like it would be No 3 as the week kicked off but it fought back and in a week when all the top 3 got TOTP exposure it benefitted the most and ended up easing past Bad Manners and almost unseating the Specials who lead from the off with “Ghost Town”. As it is the latter song tops the chart today on a sale of 109,000, a rather modest increase of 20% which might suggest its popularity is already peaking, however that was some 3,000 more copies than Jackson could muster but as if to compensate he moves 70-20 on the album charts and “One Day In Your Life” squeezes past the 600,000 mark.

Bad Manners ended up with an almost exact replica of last week’s sales at 88,000 and without TOTP this week could pay the price. If for no other reason than the fact that Starsound are back with “Vol 2” of their “Stars On 45” medleys this time covering ABBA tracks, it zooms 15-4 (73,000) and with sales at the top not stellar this week perhaps it has a chance at No 1 next week?

Bob Marley of course tragically died in May this year prompted a re-issue of his 1975 swansong “No Woman No Cry”. Originally released in 1975 it only peaked at No 22 but does far better given the circumstances as it climbs 12-9 (43,000) this week.

Formed as a side project to Talking heads, Tom Tom Club manage to outdo their parent group by this week making the top 10 with “Wordy Rappinghood”. Husband and wife team Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz can boast outdoing the No 14 peak of “Once In A Lifetime” of Talking heads as they move 14-10 (42,000) this week, the track is based around a traditional Moroccan Child’s song “A Ram Sam Sam” which boasts a version by none other than Rolf Harris.

The only climber not discussed so far belongs to Imagination who slink up a spot 7-6 (53,000) but three are falling, Odyssey 4-5 (55,000), Elaine Paige 6-7 (52,000), and Smokey Robinson 5-8 (46,000)
