There was never any doubt they would top the chart this week and do so comfortably. However, they are already falling on two of our charts and it's the lowest chart topping total since Soft Cell in August 1981 - How long can they last at the summit?

Chartfile w/e 27th February 1982:

Congratulations to The Jam who make it to the top with "A Town called Malice" giving them their second Retrochart Number One following "Going Underground" back in 1980. Other climbers inside the top ten include Soft Cell, Haircut 100, Depeche Mode and Toni Basil. The J Geils Band are stuck at Number Nine. Heading down are Hall and Oates, The Stranglers and Kraftwerk - all former Number Ones. OMD are also heading down to Number Eight this week with "Maid of Orleans"

Can Bow Wow Wow, Robert Palmer and Adam and the Ants make it to the top ten next week? - stay tuned!
