It was quite a strange bunch of records that caught my ear at that time....the old-time style of Golden Brown, OMD's waltz with a wintery, Mull Of Kintyre bagpipe vibe, and then the XTC single which - in the verses - sounds like something from the Middle Ages.

It's taken them 11 weeks - Shakatak finally make the top ten with "Easier said than done" climbing up from 14 to 10:

Kraftwerk make it two weeks at the summit with "The Model":

Cubfile:
It was a very close call this week - Kraftwerk just about hang on to the top spot with “The Model” for the second week but The Men’s “I don’t depend on you” is hot on it’s heels at Number Two, in fact The Human League have two singles climbing inside the top ten at the moment as “Being Boiled” climbs up to Number 8. Also heading up are The Stranglers, Lindsey Buckingham, OMD and Shakatak arrive into the top ten with “Easier said than done” after 11 weeks on the chart! Heading south are Dollar, Kool and the Gang and Bucks Fizz.
The highest new entry this week comes from Haircut 100 who enter at Number 40 with “Love plus one” – their second single.
The longest runner on the chart is Soft Cell with “Tainted love” which after 27 weeks falls to Number 37 this week

Next Week could see new entries from:
Soft Cell, AC DC, Earth Wind & Fire, D Train, Modern Romance and Toni Basil – stay tuned!
