What Are Song Contests?
For the uninitiated

• Contests dedicated to discovering and sharing relatively obscure music with fellow PopJustice members. Song contests happen at a rate of between six and twelve rounds per year, depending on the contest.
• Each contest has an entry submission period of 1-2 weeks in which you can send one song of your choice (a song from any time period for PJSC, a song released before 2000 for PJRetro, and a song released in the 2000s for PJ00s, and a song in a language other than English released from 2000 onward for PJXtra).
• Each entered song is evaluated by a contest-specific veto panel of fellow PJ members to ensure it fits within that contest's guidelines.
• After the entry submission deadline has passed, all songs that have passed veto are posted in the thread, and those who submitted a song have 2-4 weeks to listen to all the entries and award points to their favorite 10 songs (Eurovision-style, so 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1) excluding their own entry. Anyone who doesn't vote will be penalised, so please avoid doing that.
• Once the voting deadline is passed, the host reveals the results, and the next round commences.

Thank you for doing this @WoW73, having an active song contest hub really comes in handy! Funny thing, I was actually planning on creating a new hub myself, I'd even approached the mods about it and had the posts ready in a PM, only reason I hadn't opened it yet was because I wanted to wait until after I was done with my rate, which only ended last Wednesday. I certainly don't mind someone else taking care of it though, less work for me dd.

I just have a suggestion - aside from the four contests, I think it'd also be useful to keep track of any special rounds, song contests rates, etc here (such as the ongoing PJSC winners rate).

Sounds like a good idea - but I have a difficult time keeping track of those to be honest. How about you keep track of those in your message? Then it will remain on page one, too?

Done! I also included a slightly edited version of the "what are song contests" post from the previous hub, as I figured it might come in handy for anyone who doesn't quite get what this is all about.

Also, I think it would be a good idea if hosts made a post in this thread whenever a new round of any of the song contests starts. That way anyone who watches this thread would never accidentally miss any rounds, as occasionally happens, and maybe it'd help get people who usually one participate in one or two of the contests to try the other ones too.

I just want to express my gratitude that the contests are going ahead despite this forum madness. It can't be easy with that slow speed as a veto panel to check how many mentions an artist has on this forum. The time it took to check my own artist is already insane, so I can't imagine having to do it for over 30 songs. Thank you so much @veto panels!
