Popjustice Time Capsule: 2012 - Your Predictions

"Post-Sheeran" will become A&R currency and will divert major label resources from pure pop for at least six months.

Olly Murs will make a Christmas album.

Buble will severely damage his vocal chords.

Adele will release a remix album.

Xenomania will chip in to Little Mix's debut album.

He / Him / His
I was looking at the stats earlier in the Girlband thread, and Little Mix will very likely have the biggest selling girlband single of all time, if they get it right.

Taeyang will dominate the entire worldwide music industry. (And maybe 2NE1 will get a look in too)
Cher Lloyd will shut the game down with the help of L.A Reid.
Nadia Oh will release another album that's just as good as Colours.

Mariah's next work will follow a pattern of #1 Platinum debut, Top 10 follow-up, Top 5 album which goes Gold and three more singles which hit #22, #100 and #5 (Bubbling Under) respectively.

Natalia Kills will release a hit single, she'll get a lot of buzz.
Ellie Goulding's 2nd album will be fantastic, but it won't have as much success. :(
Madonna will have a decent album and a good single, with moderate-good success.
Girls Aloud will get back together, they can't hack another year being bored of doing nothing. Literally.
There will be a new range of bands toward the end of the year, we'll be out this horrific dance genre. Though more house music will have an influence, it'll be all about old school influences.

Nadine finally releases Insatiable in the US. It reaches the top 50.

"Do Ya Thang" is the next "Super Bass".

Duffy releases a new album. Popularity TBD.

There are lots of Justin Timberlake leaks.

Kitty Brucknell is the most popular of the 2011 X Factor alumni, other than Little Mix.

Amelle will gain number 1 with her solo single, then Sugababes new single will debut in top 5 and new album in top 10. The girls will announce their split at the end of 2012 (at the day of the end of the world). Meanwhile Heidi will win DOI. Keisha will begin her solo career and will do better than Siobhan and Mutya. Oh and one of Sugababes will reveal she's a lesbian.

The Saturdays will release their Greatest Hits.

No.

No.

They will never announce their split. They will always linger around like a bad smell.

Yes.

If it happens, she will do better than Siobhan but not as well as Mutya.

Definately Amella. That's why she's been taking her anger out on every female she see's in clubs.

Lana Del Rey will take over the world. Eventually, she'll get a lip reduction so that people can SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Azealia Banks will eclipse Nicki Minaj in popularity.

Madonna's next album will top Hard Candy in its sheer awfulness, humbling some of her die-hard fans that frequent this forum (and the Lady GaGa threads).

Little Boots' album will actually be pretty good. It will fail commercially.

Marina and the Diamond's album will be rubbish aside from Radioactive.

Jonna Lee will release a new album. It will be acoustic, but will be much more iamamiwhoami-like in style. One song will be an acoustic version of Papachoo.

Gaga will talk at lengths about her next album, which won't be released until late 2014 after she embarks on one of the longest tours ever. A big concert, but she'll perform fewer songs than in the Monster Ball, because she got too carried away with the 'love yourself' monologues. Incidentally, she'll release a self-help CD that is simply an hour length collection of her motivational speeches.

Natalia Kills will do something, and still nobody will give a single fuck.

Not a specific prediction, but the public will get bored of dancepop by numbers and dubstep, and by the end of the year pop rock and rnb will take over again.

No! Miss top 200 or chart lower than #150 for sure!

Haven't heard it so can't given an opinion!

Platinum album. And at least one hit. People still like her I think. Endlessly was all wrong despite my positivity at the time!

This would be nice but I don't think so!

See above.

- Sugababes will record the anthemic and amazing 'Punching Out' but it will flop and peak at #54.

- Rihanna will put out a Greatest Hits with only one new song (which will go to Number one in the UK/US) and then take time off/do a GH tour and then take time off.

- Girls Aloud never get around to reforming.

- Lana Del Rey 'does an Adele' and takes over the pop scene of 2012.

- Nicki Minaj's new album flops.

- Beyonce will have her baby and probably not work on any new material for the rest of the year.

- Pink will return with another pop/rock album that will sell well.

- Christina continues to grow wider and will release an okay-selling album with a few minor hits.

he / him
Paloma Faith will return and will do moderately well.
P!nk will return and will do exceptionally well.
Ke$ha will storm the world, and have major critical acclaim.

Next year will also be the year of the rising stars and debuts!

Ke$ha will storm the world, and have major critical acclaim.

This is my number one. And also:

Sia will become mainstream, do some work with David Guetta or other popular producers, and release a very popular album. It will also be amazing.

Christina will release a critically acclaimed album, will have a strong lead single, but it will do meh commercially.

Mariah will somehow score one more number one.

Katy will be almost non-existent until the end of the year, when she may release a new single that fits the current trend. I think Sia's dance pop album may be the (triumphant) swan song of mainstream dance pop, so Katy's song will be One of the Boys-esque.

Britney won't release anything until possibly the end of the year, and will lead a new album with a mid-tempo. Success TBD.

Gaga's singles will begin to flop, but she will still release a total of 10 from Born This Way. The videos will be extravagant as always. Heavy Metal Lover will possibly smash and turn the campaign around as single 7/8.

Justin will release a new album by the end of the year, and it will change everything. Alongside Christina, this will be the new sound of 2013. I'm thinking more Orbit-style sound, not so dance pop as it is trance-pop lite. His album will be incredibly successful, while Christina's will be far less commercially successful but will still have an impact.

Nicki will become a permanent fixture, but may not have another smash a la Super Bass.

Kelly Clarkson will dominate airwaves with a flawless singles run.

Rihanna will score 2 or 3 more number ones from Talk That Talk.

Adele will release three more singles, all at least top 5, but near the end of the year, she will be on her 2 to 3 year break. 21 will have sold more than Mariah and Whitney combined have sold in their entire careers.

Britney will get married and do nothing for the rest of the year. We will see occasional Us Weekly pics of her at an airport.
