And I think it would have been an impactful piece of art too. Prince was no saint and all his fans knew that. He was a genius and he touched millions of lives with his creativity but he could also be toxic and abusive to people around him and I think there's is something worthwhile in exploring the intersection of that, how someone can be such a bright light but have darkness within them too. But of course the name Prince is now a brand and his Estate is more interested in selling bedsheets or whatever than honestly exploring his legacy and his impact, complicated as it was. We will get another superficial puff piece attached to the latest product they're shilling and that will be that.
I love the book. There’s an audio version with her narration too.Mayte's book really offered a fascinating insight, revealing that he was easily led into the religious ideas he adopted in the 90s. Anyone who was keen for the documentary should read her book if they haven't already.
