Production software

Discussion in 'Pop & Justice' started by Blob, May 3, 2011.

  1. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good free production software? I currently write lyrics and would love to be able to match them to music. However I have limited capabilities with instruments/beats. Any help would be great thanks!!!

Actually instead of just free any knowledge of software would be appreciated.

  2. To start with, you could buy a copy of Computer Music magazine which comes with a DVD full of software. If you are serious, get Logic (the lite version is probably enough) but it's only for Mac users these days.

    Can you play any instruments.

My boyfriend uses Reason, with a usb keyboard to create his own samples.

Id love to be able to use it, but have no musical talent when it comes to creating samples.
If you're like me, something like ejay would be a good place to start.

  4. Thanks for the tips guys!

I don't play instruments so I'll check out ejay and that magazine.

  5. No worries. I should also add that Garageband is good for beginners and very good quality - only for Mac though (again). I think it is also available for the iPad. Good luck.
