Kylie Mole was a teenage girl character (portrayed by a probably 30-something woman) on The Comedy Company, an Australian comedy TV show from the late 80s. So, no, it's not entirely serious. But I disagree that the song is 'horrible'! Though I did enter it in a round of PJ Retro, and it came last, I think. Ddd.

I remember Faith, Hope & Charity appearing in Smash Hits a lot, but never making it. And based on that very awkward performance I can see why!
Battle Of The Sexes was awful!
All Out was bloody brilliant though, they should have released that!
I played the 12” BOTS to death - if I Remember they were treated as a bit of a joke. I thought they could do a Take That
Oddly, it was a (moderate) hit in Australia (#22) but not the UK (#95)!
I don't know anything about this song or singer other than it's a massive bop and I've had the CD single in my Discogs wishlist for years!
They were marketed badly in the UK. Wrong song choices, and they didn't know who to appeal to.
Shame really.
There can be no higher praise.
One of the best songs of 1991.
