Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

That song is so unobjectionable and bops harder than a lot of other generic pop/rock efforts even if you're not into that sort of thing - I can't imagine how it's out this early!

These results are a little bit all over the place.

No surprises with Fashion Is My Kryptonite as the first out - what the hell is that title anyway?!

Wait not the music video being some sort of teenage Ab Fab.

I'm sorry everyone, I will try to get more eliminations out soon but I have been dealing with health issues and haven't been up to much of anything. I'm not abandoning you guys, just trying to get through this struggle I have dealing with.

There's nothing to be sorry for - you deserve a day off now and then! Take your time. We heart you Hazey.

*hugs*

Regarding Olivia Holt, whose recent acting performance in "Status Update" was pretty good - I have to agree "Had me at hello" would have been a better single choice, I'd have rated that a 7 or 8...probably an 8 because the chorus is so catchy.

"Generous" is OK. Having looked at the lyrics again, the "you can go anywhere you like, you just have to ask nice" and "I'm a taker not a giver" lines are sending the innuendo-meter into overdrive. In fact, as I look at the innuendo-meter it's overheating and the label has changed to "In YOUR endo- meter"

#94. The Cheetah Girls - Cinderella - 5.850

Highest: 9 (DJHazey)

Final Bloc: #94

Info: "Cinderella" was the debut single for The Cheetah Girls. It's a cover of the i5 song "Cinderella" and was written by Lindy Robbins and Kevin Savigar

Hazey's Focus: The chorus just swept me from the first play and unlike the other songs from them, I think my 9 is exactly what I'd give it today.

@Blond (2) comes after the girl's singing not only for this song but the video they also provided: "These girls sure are nasal. I had never heard them before this rate but they don’t really have much going for them. Also this is now one of my favourite videos on the internet."

@Martyn (2.5) instead takes aim at those who put the songs together: "Why do all their songs so cheaply produced?" While @Sally_Harper (1) just goes after everything: "I could write the exact same comment for this as I did for Girl Power. I guess “strong resemblance to little girls being crap at imitating girlbands” was their aesthetic." At least @livefrommelbs (5.5) sees some improvement though: "A bit better than Girl Power, but still not one I'd keep on the playlist." In fact, @unnameable (7) thinks they might have peaked: " I like this the most of their stuff."
@Remorque (5) wasn't as swept away by the chorus as I was apparently: "Well, at least this is a step up from Girl Power? Bloody hell. Those vocals... That production... The chorus kinda saves it, but it's devoid of life and could have used a key change and a better middle 8."

@Sprocky's BF (4) defends the classic Disney princesses and thought "Cinderella doesn't deserve this." @Mina (5) thinks the cover-aspect went wrong: "Both i5 and Play did this one better. This rendition is rather lethargic." And will close with @iheartpoptarts (7) who promises an answer to her onw question: "There were quite a few versions of this. Remember Play? I miss Play. Aren't there better Play songs to recycle? Let me think about this—I’ll have an answer by the time the reveal comes along!"

That means The Cheetah Girls tracks are all gone, leaving just Raven's solo.

#93. Raven Symone - Bump - 5.863

Final Bloc: #93

Hazey's Focus: I know this seems like a random choice, but again I didn't know much about Raven's solo music and since none of them have any chart success I just listened to them all and felt this sounded the least dated and sounded like a fun little R&B bop. I guess I was wrong, considering the ranking.

I think @Martyn (3.5) wanted to me to listen again since they could only manage an "eh". Seems like @Sally_Harper (2) might have been falling asleep: "She sounds bored shitless. I don’t blame her." Remorque (6) understands where she was coming from: "Although that middle 8 is a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise mediocre song, this is all just a little too lifeless for my taste…" But @31entrance (6.75) was pleasantly surprised at least: "the first song of the rate that i've never heard before! kind of catchy not something I would have on repeat though." It was the same situation for @livefrommelbs (7) who even gave Raven an honorable comparison: "Raven's feeling her Janet fantasy in this one! I actually hadn't heard this until now - I'm into it."

I hope @WhenTheSunGoesDown (8) I swilling to give us an explanation for this comment, because I'm drawing a blank: "Cocaine anthem!"

@Pecans (7) seems to already be a fan: "Raven’s music is a lot of fun; this is a really decent effort." @Sprockrooster (7) was "really digging the flow" which might have been because of what @iheartpoptarts (7) points out: "I see JT’s early career made a lot of impact."

Last one for now has our first 11 going, so I hope that voter isn't too upset by how early it's leaving us...

#92. Bella Thorne - Call It Whatever - 5.888

Voter Bloc 4: #91

Final Bloc: #92

Charts: #10 (U.S. Hot Club Dance)

Info: Bella first heard the song while filming for the movie Blended in Africa and immediately thought it would be a fun addition for her and called it her youngest-sounding song. Bella says the song is about two people who don't really know what to call their relationship so they just call it whatever. The video was shot at Cadillac Jack's Diner in San Fernando Valley, which is a famous diner because it has been used for several music videos including Cher Lloyd's "Want U Back".

Hazey's Focus: Our 11-giver shouldn't be too surprised that I didn't give it one of my highest scores as I've noted a few times how it's far from my favorite thing from her. I have no issues with the amount autotune, though it's a bit overdone in the prechorus and becomes a turn off there. The whole package is a bit too 'by the numbers' for this style of teen-pop while still being catchy enough that I wouldn't tell someone to hit skip.

@GhettoPrincess (0) has never been one to hold back, simply calling it "awful" while @Sally_Harper politely said "not for me, thanks." I would imagine this song would make people react one way or another but @Martyn (3.25) seems to able to leave the experience behind quickly: "Whatever indeed… Forgetable."

@unnameable (6) is willing to allow Bella's charms to shine through: "Bella isn’t amazing, but there’s something likeable about this." @Pecans (7) may have the clue to while those charms exist: "She’s like a child version of Bonnie McKee. I mean, this is fun, but it’s sort of limp… despite the chorus attempting to be huge." I'm mad I didn't think of that comparison first, it's perfect. You should all know by now that when @iheartpoptarts (8) watches a video she'll find something to be detracted by. In this case it was positive vibes all around: "The world needs more retro style diners. They’re so fun. I want a milkshake."

@WhenTheSunGoesDown (11) sounds as if he knew what was coming but I'd still expect a meltdown forthcoming:

"This song desperately needs my 11 cause it’s a bunch of hard-to-appreciate, acquired-taste noise, but it’s truly all I want in a pop song. Synthy, overly upbeat, loud, catchy, hand claps and struggle vocals. Someone please leak her unreleased album before I die!"
