Who Is This? #1 - Bea Miller
Well, the first thing you should probably know or might already know about is that she finished 9th in Season 2 of X-Factor (U.S.) in 2012.
Her debut EP
Young Blood was released by Syco/Hollywood Records in 2014, when she was touring the songs on the Demi World Tour. I went to one of those shows and it's when her music first caught my eye. All of the songs played that night: "Young Blood", "Fire n Gold", "Enemy Fire", and "Dracula" can also be found on her debut album
Not An Apology, which carries over the pop/rock sound from the EP. My favorite album track is definitely "I Dare You":
Her album peaked at #7 on the Billboard Charts and "Fire n Gold" got a #78 placement on the Hot 100, which is why it was chosen as her representative song. Her debut "Young Blood" almost made the cut as it did get her 150,000 views in less than a week on youtube, but I figured just one song from her would be a strong indicator on whether you'd want to hear the rest of her discography; "Fire n Gold" was indeed the peak of her short-lived popularity.
Since her debut teen-pop album, she has gone into a more mature direction that I personally haven't really enjoyed as much when she released her 'color' EPs in 2017:
Chapter One: Blue,
Chapter Two: Red, and
Chapter Three: Yellow. Though
@iheartpoptarts has gotten some use of some songs from them, so that should tell you there are still bops to be found.
The song you will be rating:
If you end up liking that, try out "Young Blood" (which I honestly think is the better song, but I wanted to be consistent by picking the charting single and not be too subjective)
Biggest Musical Comparison:
Allison Iraheta - "Friday I'll Be Over You" -- Demi's early stuff -- Aly & AJ's early 'boppy' songs -- a little bit of Ashley's
Guilty Pleasure sound -- she also has a little bit of the Skye Sweetnam pop-punk attitude going for her.
