Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

"No, I’m not kidding. This is really quite tragic and I can’t believe she was actually made to record this (I remember reading somewhere that it was done as a brand deal of some sort with a shoe company?) but at the same time I absolutely love it, purely for how crap it is. It’s given me years of joy. From the “Put your sneakers awwwwwn, PUT YA SNEAKERS AWWWWWN” intro, to the cackling at the end, it’s amazing for all the wrong reasons. I love the hilariously shite lyrics which for some reason have Vanessa turning into the average mum “Are you ready? Did you eat? Do you have the energy?” Remember to take a jacket in case you get cold, phone if you’re going to be late! Not to mention the ultimate classic chorus of “Basically what we’re gonna do is dance” x100. Outstanding imagery there. I could quote the whole thing but this is already too long. I also love that it’s crammed full of weird adlibs and whatnot – she’s trying so hard to sell it! I think my favourite weird adlib is “WHAT? We’re gonna daa-ahnce” near the end, but there are so many. Also, how HILARIOUSLY TERRIBLE is it that she’s in front of a giant shoe - excuse me, sneaker – with flashing pink laces in roughly half the video?! How could they do that to her? Enjoy your sneakernight, Baby V – you’ve earned it!"
Incredible commentary!
I hope @WhenTheSunGoesDown (8) I swilling to give us an explanation for this comment, because I'm drawing a blank: "Cocaine anthem!"
It's a Z-list joke referring to "bump" being another word for a line of coke.

Last one for now has our first 11 going, so I hope that voter isn't too upset by how early it's leaving us...

#92. Bella Thorne - Call It Whatever - 5.888

Highest: 11 (@WhenTheSunGoesDown) 10 (@Charley)

Lowest: 0 (@GhettoPrincess) 1 (@Sally_Harper) 2 (@Blond)

My Score: 7

Voter Bloc 1: #100
Voter Bloc 2: #97
Voter Bloc 3: #97
Voter Bloc 4: #91
Voter Bloc 5: #93

Final Bloc: #92

Charts: #10 (U.S. Hot Club Dance)

Info: Bella first heard the song while filming for the movie Blended in Africa and immediately thought it would be a fun addition for her and called it her youngest-sounding song. Bella says the song is about two people who don't really know what to call their relationship so they just call it whatever. The video was shot at Cadillac Jack's Diner in San Fernando Valley, which is a famous diner because it has been used for several music videos including Cher Lloyd's "Want U Back".

Hazey's Focus: Our 11-giver shouldn't be too surprised that I didn't give it one of my highest scores as I've noted a few times how it's far from my favorite thing from her. I have no issues with the amount autotune, though it's a bit overdone in the prechorus and becomes a turn off there. The whole package is a bit too 'by the numbers' for this style of teen-pop while still being catchy enough that I wouldn't tell someone to hit skip.

@GhettoPrincess (0) has never been one to hold back, simply calling it "awful" while @Sally_Harper politely said "not for me, thanks." I would imagine this song would make people react one way or another but @Martyn (3.25) seems to able to leave the experience behind quickly: "Whatever indeed… Forgetable."

@unnameable (6) is willing to allow Bella's charms to shine through: "Bella isn’t amazing, but there’s something likeable about this." @Pecans (7) may have the clue to while those charms exist: "She’s like a child version of Bonnie McKee. I mean, this is fun, but it’s sort of limp… despite the chorus attempting to be huge." I'm mad I didn't think of that comparison first, it's perfect. You should all know by now that when @iheartpoptarts (8) watches a video she'll find something to be detracted by. In this case it was positive vibes all around: "The world needs more retro style diners. They’re so fun. I want a milkshake."

@WhenTheSunGoesDown (11) sounds as if he knew what was coming but I'd still expect a meltdown forthcoming:

"This song desperately needs my 11 cause it’s a bunch of hard-to-appreciate, acquired-taste noise, but it’s truly all I want in a pop song. Synthy, overly upbeat, loud, catchy, hand claps and struggle vocals. Someone please leak her unreleased album before I die!"

I literally let out a high-pitched "Oh no, my baby!!!" when I saw this post.

I like Bella the actress, but Bella the singer is strictly an also-ran. It would be nice if we could hear her unreleased album, but it's not a colossal loss to the musical world.

I won't name any names, but throughout voting I had to refuse two ballots, the first time I had to do that because those people would've been low scorer for like 90% of the songs.

Now I'm wondering if those people gave negative scores to some of the songs?? Since it seems like there's no way someone can beat @GhettoPrincess and @Sally_Harper for lowest scorer place unless they gave scores below zero, kii.

@DJHazey said my scores weren't as bad as he was expecting so I feel like the ones he rejected were constantly low.

The ballots I refused were literally decent to high scores for one or two artists and something like 1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 0, 2, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 0 for everything else.

I'll be posting some new eliminations today, but it's my first day back at work so I've got to catch up with that first.

In case anyone was wondering what my health issues were, I've been dealing with debilitating back pain that flared up big time last week, so I tried not to spend too much time at my home computer the end of last week (where I do Popjustice stuff when at home).

Take your time! No need to rush!
