There's probably one song from each of them that I wouldn't mind going apart from Lindsay so watch it be her.
Hey, it's not my fault you're just too good at guessing theses.
But, not today Lindsay lives on and it's Selegend who loses a song first. Y'all wanted a twist, right?

Info: "Falling Down" was the debut single for Selena's debut album
Kiss & Tell. It was written by Ted Bruner who has also written for Miley, Katy Perry, Bonnie McKee, and a lot for a favorite alternative band of mine Three Day Grace. Also receiving writing credit is Gene Schock of The Go-Gos, as Selena was inspired by her for the album. Part of the reason the song is less known is that it was never officially released in Europe. The lyrics can be interpreted as being about love but were intended to be about ridiculing Hollywood life which makes it very similar to one of Demi's early singles: "La La Land". Selena expanded upon this:
"It's basically about Hollywood and what people think about it and essentially how plastic it is sometimes. It's fun and I think girls can relate to it somewhat, for me it was because of Hollywood but it can really relate to a mean girl, an ex-boyfriend, to whoever." Included among the live performances for "Falling Down" was the ninth season of
Dancing With the Stars where Selena was criticized for her vocals. I still here the song today used as the lead in from commercials for sporting events, so at least somebody still remembers it. As we all know, Selena signed a five album contract with Hollywood Records (with her final 'greatest hits/remix' album
For You being a clear "lets get this over with" release) and the early vision Selena had was to be a band like Paramore, whom she was a big fan of. Taste.
Hazey's Focus: This is certainly not the first song I would've chosen to go first. I've never understood how this has always been like the 'forgotten sister track' to "Naturally". I mean, on the one hand yeah "Naturally" is massive and solidified her future as a dance-pop queen, but at the same time those of you who aren't knocked over by
"all of the ones, supposed to be there for youuuuuuuuuuuu" leading into the chorus weren't listening to it correctly. In fact every one of those
"youuuuuuuuu's" have given me butterflies for years, the song never sounds old, never dated, I always that 'new love' feeling, I will never get enough. I put "Naturally" in my Ultimate Top 20 because it deserves but when I really think about it, I'm not sure how much of a gap, if at all, there is between the two. "Falling Down" is always going to be that underrated gem sitting comfortably in my Selena Top 10.
I'm sorry Selena but you were right when you said
"smile for the camera because they're all about to trash ya." Right
@Satan_Harper (1)?:
"I can’t work out if I don’t like the song, her voice on the song, or both. Possibly both."
If anyone was paying attention this was the same comment
@Martyn (4) used for Demi's "Can't Back Down". Hooray for recycling, the environment thanks you!:
"If this was the first Selena song I'd heard, I wouldn't have looked out for anymore."
@unnameable (5) is saying pretty much the same thing but just a tad nicer:
"Luckily Selena improved from this mediocrity."
It's hilarious that
@Mina (5) acts like tis is some kind of insult:
"This sounds like a Hannah Montana/early career Miley reject." I want every single one of those 'rejects' and I wanted them yesterday.
We always talk about our favorite artists 'taking us over' but never put too much stock into what we actually mean. Here's an example from
@WhenTheSunGoesDown (8.5):
"This is tragic noise but I’ve Stockholm Syndrome’d myself into loving it." Too bad that's never going to happen with "As a Blonde" for me.
Chapter 1, Verse 17, Line 1 of The Boppers Guide to a Better Life, @iheartpoptarts reads it back verbatim: "The debut single everyone forgets ever happened. It deserves better!" Can I get an amen!
Psst, @31entrance (10) I'm pretty sure none of us were aware so you're good: "what. a. debut. single. also ddd at me not actually knowing Selena had her own band during that time." I still don't know who they are. I just assumed the producers were using guitar instrumentals *shrugs* I wish it would've never happened, but because of it (and Last.FM's stupid policy where they won't change the tag from & The Scene to just all Selena Gomez), she's always going to behind Avril Lavigne in my ranking which is actually correct)
