Could it possibly be one of mine too? I can't be that lucky.
Not quite that lucky, yet. But it made me think of this so listen to it and smile anyway.

Info: "Fly on the Wall" was the third and final single from Miley's second album Breakout. It charted much better in Europe than it did stateside and along with "Who Owns My Heart" and "Start All Over" is still the only single from Miley not to be at least certified platinum...we'll see how long the former lasts. Tim James and teen-pop writing legends Antonina Armato penned the track. The song received mixed reviews for being catchy and pushing envelope to what a teen-pop could sound like with some saying it was the most interesting track on the album, while others called it a sad attempt at Britney's "Toxic" or a Pussycat Dolls song. A lot of people thought the lyrics were about an abusive/controlling boyfriend but Miley says the song was about the paparazzi: "I wrote it for the media, always feeling like they need to be in my life. Sometimes they just wish that they could blend in and be there all the time. And that they might know me a little bit better if they were in my house, in my room and my different places. So, it's like going to different spots and trying to get away from them and it's not going away like little annoying flies." Music video director Phillip Andelman wanted to make sure things were kept 'playful' and stray away from being too serious about the subject. Miley expanded on this and discussed where the inspiration for the video came from: "The concept is kind of 'Thriller'-esque. It's kind of like where the paparazzi become these zombies and they're all like attacking me. And my boyfriend is trying to save me, but I don't know if he's a paparazzi too. So, it's like me trying to hide and get away. It's really fun, but I'm escaping from my boyfriend and escaping from the paparazzi and trying to find my way through the whole video."
Hazey's Focus: Seeing the live MTV premiere of this one is still vividly in my brain. This was before I took a dive into her discography, so having loved songs like "See You Again" and "7 Things" had me ready for what this could be and disappointed is an understatement. Don't get me wrong because the song starts off fun enough and but it always falls off the tracks when we reach the chorus and I've never been able to get past it. Most of the song is actually pretty passable but all I can ever hear in my head when I think of the song is that ghastly "fly on the wall" that sounds like it was pulled from some cheesy Goosebumps theme song or some other Nick Jr. kiddie show. Delete it fat, indeed.
I've rarely agreed with Sprocky's BF (2) in this rate but we finally find some common ground: "SKIP this please." I've never had to skip it because it's never been in my library. When I downloaded Breakout, I deleted it and then listened to other songs I didn't know.
With how many times @Mina (8) has dismissed an actual fun song, I cannot with this being the hill she's willing to play on: "Fun."
Normally I'd know exactly what @iheartpoptarts (8) is referring to but when we're talking about this song it sounds like Chinese: "Falls into the so-awful-but-such-a-bop category for me. I expect we all have a lot of those!"
Not when something like East Northumberland High sounds like she's in high school and this sound like a nursery rhyme you don't @Pecans (8): "This track feels so much more mature than the rest of Miley’s early discography. Fly on the Wall was a real growing point for Miley’s career: she actually feels like a genuine pop force to be reckoned with in this."
I think I just need to accept that me and @Sally_Harper's (8) idea of great Disney pop song are on opposite sides of the fence: "BOP. I can remember hearing this and being really surprised that it was Miley, because it was GOOD! Also, the start of the video with the guy turning into the pap is hilarious, as is Miley’s confused acting face."
If I lived next door to @livefrommelbs (9) and they started getting loud with this song, I'd call the cops: "More like balls-to-the-wall. This is NOISY in the best possible way."
Me now with how this rate has gone so far.
