Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

Ne-Yo was approached by Lindsay's label to write song for her an boy did he provide the shade:
"I gotta admit, we were like ... Lindsay Lohan? I mean, I've written for Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan?
A Kelly Clarkson turning down millions of dollars to put Black Hole on My December tea. Poor Lindsay.

Neither am I, but I scored a different Lindsay song lower than this one. (I somehow suspect that one'll be sticking around for quite a bit longer.)

I hope anyone that scored it low is dragged to hell and some of the comments...were a choice so I hope they end up feeling ashamed too. Am I going to be nice and redact them?

So now there will be one artist left unscathed..

It's kind not fair when you're tied for the most songs in the rate with 11 and you're going up against an artist who only has three songs to pick from..

But Queen Hilary still has all 11 of them alive.

Info: "Thumbs" was a promotional single from Sabrina's second album Evolution and was later released as the third official single. The song was written by Steve Mac who has recently worked with Steps, Zara Larsson, Charli XCX, Rita Ora and worked with The Saturdays and Little Mix in the past, also Priscilla Renea co-wrote who has worked with many artists from this rate and others such as The Saturdays and Fifth Harmony. "Thumbs" was the last song recorded for the album and is the only one Sabrina didn't help write herself: "We'd finish the album, I then heard "Thumbs" which gave me these vibes of fame and black and gold and just like some of my favorite soulful songs." She later called all the other songs "children of Thumbs" on the album. The lyric "They gonna keep on twiddling them thumbs" is a metaphor to describe people wasting their times doing pointless things and never making any progress in their lives. To further the point, the song is meant to be about embracing your individuality and escaping mediocrity. The music video takes place in a subway with people doing their everyday routines because Sabrina felt this would where you find all sorts of different people and work well with the lyric "somewhere in the world". Sabrina got rave reviews for the jazzy elements in the song and the use 'scatting' which hooked many.

Hazey's Focus: I'm gonna be honest, whenever a song from this album comes on I usually can't tell one from another until they get going and show a bit of their personality, however Thumbs emerged as a favorite of mine just because of how unique it is. I know it's not going to be for everyone and people will look at the title of go "Thumbs? WTF?" but it's a total ear worm.

I bet @iheartpoptarts (1) never expected a 9 for this from me but I always find a way to surprise her with my broad taste. I knew this was coming though: "I legit hate this song. She was doing so well, too."

I hope Sabrina was able to give a good explanation to @Sally_Harper (3) as far as the song's message: "This isn’t really my thing. Also, what the hell are the lyrics? My brain shut down halfway through the first verse."

Similar criticisms came form @Martyn (6.75) but they were able to overlook them: "Why is she just listing family members of family members? Ok second verse and she is chatting more shit? This is a bop though."

@unnameable (7) called it "pretty good" and Sprocky's BF (7) predicted how well it might do if Sabrina moved to Norway: "Is this a Eurovision song?"

@livefrommelbs (9) must not have known about its wide-spread-yet-mild success in Europe: "Ladies and gentleman, we have ourselves an earworm. Not sure why this wasn't a hit."

@31entrance (9.75) demands answers as well: "okay but this deserved to be a big hit I mean THAT BUILDUP AND CHORUS."

I'm not really sure what @Sprockrooster (10) is on about, but watch it be something that should get and I'll be a flop like usual: "I love Queen's Show Must Go On too."

The rate Gods took a look at poor Sabrina and said "why not go back-to-back?"

Hazey's Focus: Ddd, this is only here because I fell in love with it. It's the second single from Sabrina's debut album of the same name, that I'm sure no one even knows exists. It's very country-oriented pop which everyone could probably hear when listening to this but my word if it's not an anthem still. I should've known it wouldn't do much since I entered in a PJSC and it flopped gloriously. I'm not mad though because it made much further than I could've ever dreamed of and it's one of my 10s I'm least fussed about.

@Martyn (5) is the one who doesn't even need time off for bereavement, heartless: "I don't care for you banging on about your dead Grandad. The chorus is alright."

Back to the restaurants we go with @Sally_Harper (6) who treats this like the time you hype a place up all week and bring her to eat there on a Friday night. You can't contain your excitement about what she'll think about the meal and then: "This is decent but not amazing."

I'm still holding out hope for Olivia and Sofia too, but @livefrommelbs (6) has a point (not about this song though): "Sabrina's the next big Disney girl. Even with this sorta naff earlier stuff she has IT."

I mean no expected a Celine Dion excursion from Sabrina but yeah I guess @unnameable (7): "not bad, but the power ballads of radio disney don’t seem up to 80s standards."

@iheartpoptarts (7) is also pretty lukewarm towards it but asks question I'm happy to provide the answer for: "It works as a bridge between her acoustic pop stuff and her pure pop peak. Who tried to make “bridge single” a thing again? Oh, I don’t even remember." So THIS is the "incoherent sleep-walking commentary" we've come to expect, the answer is the atrocity known as "Focus" by Ariana Grande.

The # of 10s have been pretty scarce today but tomorrow's first cut will provide another 11 and four 10s and I'm not one of them! Buckle up!

It feels very similar in buildup and strings in that intro. And I stan this hard because of it.

Also why in the world is this song out so soon!! That eurovision esque chorus should have everyone snatched I expected.
