Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

Here's another massive cut that I couldn't find time to post yesterday, don't know if anybody saw this coming, but it's a bit of revenge story with history for me...

Year-End Charts: #64 and #71 (Brazil 2011-12) #159 (UK 2013)

Certifications: Platinum (U.S., Australia) Gold (New Zealand) Silver (UK)

Release: Lead single for Demi's third album Unbroken in July 2011.

Songwriters: Toby Gad (producer), Lindy Robbins, Kerli Koiv

Hazey's Focus: Keeping this short and sweet because most people know all about this song already, I don't really have time for it, and I'm not sure if this site is going back to blocked any moment now ddd. The history behind me wanting this do poorly is simply that during the Demi Lovato rate, I was one of the biggest stans throughout the reveals, the most high scores, some of the most passionate posts and commentary, etc. and then literally one of my least favorite songs in her entire catalogue wins over my 11 that finished second (Give Your Heart a Break). I think I gave it a 4 back then but I had to subtract a point because of its competition here and to help its demise. This is exactly the kind of 'over-singing' that has helped slowly shown Demi's career go off the rails as far as I'm concerned.

@Sally_Harper (2) is correct here and shouldn't be too worried when Demi has many other songs that do the same thing better: "I’ve always disliked this, and I feel bad because I know it’s about her personal struggles, but I just don’t get on with it at all."

Now @Mina (3) is bit off base by lumping this mess in with the rest of her output: "Demi's voice always walks a fine line between sounding good and sounding too shrill/forced. This song's vocals are atrocious."

@WhenTheSunGoesDown (5) is being far too nice with this score because I know they could've gone lower: "This kind of motivational shoutfest is really not for me."

No @iheartpoptarts (5) I'll keep dragging it: "The kind of thing you drag for sounding like an X Factor winner song. I love that it actually did become an X Factor winner song."

@Pecans (8) is caught in the emotional moment from Demi: "A beautiful track that truly comes from a place of struggle from Demi. Stunning." which is probably why @livefrommelbs (8.5) referred to it as "a moment".

I've seen @GhettoPrincess (8) drag far better vocals than this, but werk: "Her vocals can be a bit too gritty sometimes but it’s an impressive song especially when she goes for it in the final chorus."

Somehow @31entrance (9.75) is affected by it: "“you can take everything I have, you can break everything I am, like I’m made of glass like I’m made of paper” still gives me shivers down my spine after years."

For negative reasons by some @unnameable (10) but yes: "surely Demi will be remembered for this."

For example, it's how @Martyn's (10) memory was sparked: "I had heard of Demi before this, but couldn't remember hearing any of her songs. Really only listened to this as it was hyped as a huge come back after she punched her ginger backing dancer. Lovely song."

After the parade of 1s provided by @Blond (10) in this rate, this score feels like a personal attack but get your life: "I know we’ve heard this a million times in the background on X Factor while someone talks about their nan dying but I remember the day this song came out in 2011 and it was actually a moment. The lyrics aren’t exactly ground-breaking but there is so much genuine emotion in the song and it was clearly a song that meant a lot to Demi at the time."

Yeah probably the "over-singing Demi" we know now started with Skyscraper but it's still a meaningful song regardless even if it isn't my favorite song by her

Not sad to see it gone even though I gave it a high score

My "revenge tour" continues..

#34. Ashley Tisdale - He Said She Said - 7.615

Highest: 10 x 5 (@Sally_Harper, @soratami, @Alouder98, @Sprockrooster, @unnameable)

Lowest: 2 (@Blond) 5 x 2 (@Mina, DJHazey)

Voter Bloc 1: #81
Voter Bloc 2: #47
Voter Bloc 3: #32
Voter Bloc 4: #37
Voter Bloc 5: #30

Final Voters: #34

Charts: #58 (U.S.) #155 (UK) #21 (Austria) #62 (Canada) #65 (Eurochart) #17 (Germany) #1 (Ukraine)

Certifications: Gold (U.S.)

Release: Second single from Ashley's debut album Headstrong in January 2007.

Songwriters: Jonathan Rotem (producer), Evan "Kidd" Bogart, Ryan Tedder

Hazey's Focus: It's no secret as we saw with the "Be Good to Me" elimination that I really don't have much love for this album from Ashley. It's practically night and day between Headstrong and Guilty Pleasure for me. That could be because I didn't really discover her music until I became instantly obsessed with Guilty Pleasure, asking for the CD for Christmas that year. It's also because I'd rather have rock-pop Ashley than R&B/Hip Hop Ashley any day of the week. This just strays too far into that territory and is practically annoying to my ears. I'm THRILLED that my all-time favorite Ashley song, "Overrated", has managed to beat this out despite everyone saying it's time for "Overrated" to go.

It's throw to the wayside by @Remorque (6.5) but only because they've grown up: "What the flying fuck even is this mess? It has no redeeming features to me, except for the rays of sunshine that are that post-chorus and that middle 8, which is ultimately ruined by her weak vocals at the end though... I know my 16 year old self would have eaten this up, but as of now? Gurl, neaux."

Though @livefrommelbs (7) is also pointing to the same highlights: "I've never really loved the chorus on this one. The verses and bridge are absolute fire though."

Similarly, @GhettoPrincess (7) left it in 2007: "I used to love this, it’s pretty dated now. Vocally it’s a bit grating but the production is pretty great still but unfortunately slightly annoying in other aspects."

There's one line that caught @WhenTheSunGoesDown's (7.3) eye: "This song is Jessica Alba fantastic!"

According to @iheartpoptarts (8), Tiz was a role model: "Ashley is life goals. I appreciate her wanting to be a proper Britney sort of popstar at a time when nobody was doing it."

Well known by @Pecans (8) doesn't necessarily mean greatness: "To me, this is Ashley’s most recognisable track. He Said She Said is a really decent pop song, although it’s not my favourite from her."

@Martyn (8.5) doesn't think Ashley sexed the song up enough: "The fact this has a "clean" edit for Radio Disney is HILARIOUS."

@Sally_Harper (10) was laughing right along with him and getting her life: "WHAT A SONG. Just brilliant. I mentioned this in her rate, but I still find the fact that this had a “clean” edit hilarious."

@Sprockrooster (10) found a new gem to annoy his boyfriend with: "Such a discovery in the rate."

While @unnameable (10) spells "Zoom Song" incorrectly: "highlight of her first album"

I never actually listened to Guilty Pleasure even though I had the Headstrong CD. Maybe I should fix that.

Without giving away your scores, if you liked the five songs in this rate you definitely should!

Hot Mess, How Do You Love Someone, Tell Me Lies, What If, Erase and Rewind, Me Without You, Whatcha Waiting For, and Title-Track are my other favorites. Hair also has a lot of fans too.
