Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

Well if it helps, voting just opened and is open until March 27th, so does this mean you can be added to the regular tag-reminder list?

I think my titles may be mis-leading in that sense, let me change it.
Yes add me!!!

I probably misread - a mix of being dyslexic and having my eye burnd by a chili (don't cut a scotch bonnet and try and take out your contacts!)

I'd love to do this! I don't really know a few of the artists but I don't care. Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens in the same rate? I'm SOLD.

Also, a full Vanessa Hudgens rate would be the best thing ever and I demand to be tagged if anyone starts one. Just putting it out there.

I'm starting with Demi and I am OBSESSED with her early work. Her voice was actually listenable and the songs could just have easily been on a Kelly album or even Paramore's earlier albums. I wish she'd consider going back to that sound rather than the faux R&B she's been wailing for the last five or so years.

The temptation to do this rate vs. the fact that anything you say can and will be used against your taste level in the future....

why would you even care about what others say... mess. it's just music.

It's singles only.

This. I love this. All of it.

Eh, not really sure if I should even respond but:

a. it was a joke about how a lot of people view disney music. I've already given a couple of indicators that I plan on doing this rate & stanned Zendaya.

b. We're all people who signed up on a pop music forum to talk about pop music with other people.

I care about what others say to the extent that I enjoy interacting with other people who are passionate about music, and to say I didn't value their opinion would be wrong (even if I disagree). I've discovered a lot of new artists thanks to this forum and a lot of those who I first overlooked. I do care and I hope all of us do, otherwise, what's the point of posting?

I know that no one is being serious and all, but just know that no one gets judged for anything in this thread, ever. So long as I'm running things. This is a safe haven. xx

(Of course you can all kill each other once you find out who tanked your favs in the reveal.)

Who Is That? #5 - China Anne McClain

She was discovered by Tyler Perry for her singing talents in 2007 and he cast her on the TV show Tyler Perry's House of Payne, which was China's first claim to fame. From that she had several guest appearances on various Disney shows including Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place until she was able to land the starring role in Disney's A.N.T. Farm (pictured above). The show follows Chyna Parks as she first attends a school for gifted musical prodigies in San Francisco known as the A.N.T. program or "Advanced Natural Talent". The show lasted three seasons. A soundtrack was released for the show which has China and her sisters appearing on the bonus tracks (they often sing together and call themselves the McClain Sisters -- they've even released music under this name). The song "Calling All the Monsters" was performed on a Disney Halloween special and is the lone single from the soundtrack; it reached #86 on the Hot 100. The title may have you thinking it's too cheesy, but I promise you that it's a mega bop that I loved from day one.

Just this past year China was cast as a villain named Uma in the Disney film Descendants 2. The movie is about the rivalry between the children of various Classic Disney characters and China plays Ursulla's daughter; she is the main antagonist in the story. Her theme song in the movie is "What's My Name?" which was the first song I ever heard from the soundtrack and it captivated me instantly. This is why we're rating it but also it reached #61 on the Hot 100. Get ready for an incredible bop with China delivering tons of swag throughout. Hopefully some of you will lose your wigs like I did the first time I heard it.

Other things to note about China are that she also did a cover of Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" on the A.N.T. Farm soundtrack, that got her some national attention. She also appeared on ABC's Sing Your Face Off as the youngest contestant and won the first season, so she certainly has the chops.

Musical Comparison: She lists Rihanna as a main inspiration for her music, so we'll call her Baby Rih.

I freaking love 'Dynamite'. I would cover it too if I was a popstar.

It's not really a super favorite of mine, but if it had charted like her other two songs in the rate I probably would've added it, plus I just love "What's My Name?" and "Calling All the Monster" so my bias could still be objective in this case. Feel free to express some love for it in your comments about the two songs we're rating.

I'm not saying it should've been added, it's all good! We have enough of a list in here without including covers of songs everyone knows anyway.

Definitely a great choice. But perhaps a change here or there would have been nice for the ones knowing the sugababes song (I understand Miranda was mostly for US market so there was no point in changing the song as little people would know it).

Also, one song in particular popped the fuck off again during playlisting the spotify tracklist. I think I have my 11.

I knew the Miranda version long before I knew the Sugababes one and I still love it the most.

Expect one month to go tags tomorrow.
