Radio Disney Justice: A Teen-Pop Extravaganza - (Results: WINNER)

Just listening to "Sorry Not Sorry" once tells me she's over-singing. That is dire. Then I listened to a few others from the album and it didn't get much better.

Here We Go Again is 100 times more cohesive of an album then anything else she's put out and as we've seen with the results there's a group of her fans who miss that sound from her.

Big Moment: For the first time in the rate we're eliminating multiple 11s.

Also a big moment that we're down to one artist remaining other than the 'Big 6'.

Somehow, some way, Sabrina beat Lindsay. We love a little shocker.

#30. Lindsay Lohan - Over - 7.725

Highest: 11 x 2 (@Mina, @Hurricane Drunk) 10 x 6 (@soratami, @livefrommelbs, @Remorque, @unnameable, @Blond, @Charley)

Lowest: 3 x 2 (@Sally_Harper, Sprocky's BF)

My Score: 7 <--- Oh and @Mina, you gave my 11 a higher score.

Voter Bloc 1: #46

Voter Bloc 3: #32
Voter Bloc 4: #27
Voter Bloc 5: #42

Final Voters: #30

Charts: #1 (U.S. Bubbling Under) #27 (UK, Australia) #49 (Austria) #76 (Europe) #40 (Germany) #19 (Ireland) #52 (Switzerland)

Release: Second single from Lindsay's debut album Speak, in December 2004.

Songwriters: Lindsay Lohan, Kara Dioguardi (producer), John Shanks (producer).

Fun Facts: Lindsay confirmed in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that the song is about the breakup with Wilmer Valderrama. Critics compared the sound to Michelle Branch with positive reviews. The music video was inspired by the film American Beauty.

Hazey's Focus: As I mentioned when we eliminated "Confessions of a Broken Heart", I really never looked into Lindsay's music much as most of it was a bit before I got into pop, but hearing this during the voting process was definitely a "hey, I know this" moment. That "honestly tell me" part is definitely catchy for sure. I think I could've swapped this with one of the 8s I gave and probably overrated in retrospect, but having it leave at this point is fine with me. However, it probably won't be cool with the eight voters who gave this top marks, the most we've revealed so far.

It looks like our villainous pair finally have a difference in opinion, with what @Sally_Harper (3) did. It just goes to show that you can never trust a rate villain even if you think you're in it together, they'll always come and stab you in the back. I'm sure that's how @Mina is feeling right now: "I remember not being able to get away from this when it came out, which was unfortunate because I didn’t like it very much. I still don’t."

@Martyn (3.75) just thinks the label made the wrong choice: "Why was this picked as her UK debut over Rumours?"

Trying to figure out which pop/rock songs @iheartpoptarts (8) will like is like trying to figure out quantum physics: "A surprisingly solid take on the whole 00s pop/rock thing."

I think @GhettoPrincess (8) is about where I am with the song except I never really thought about it until this rate: "Never been a favourite but her emotional delivery on the chorus and ad-libs is strong."

Lindsay knew how to find @Pecans's (8) wheelhouse with this one: "I’m a sucker for a heartbroken piece of teenpop, and Lindsay delivers with this."

When this song came out @unnameable (10) was ready for a huge movement in pop to follow: "this made me think Lindsay could single handedly revive soft rock balladry."

@livefrommelbs (10) points out that we were already in the midst of the revival: "One of the best pop songs of the mid-noughties. As angsty as a Disney gal ever got too - this could've easily been a massive hit for the likes of Avril, Kelly, etc. So so so good."

@Blond (10) shames Lindsay for putting a spell on them: "This song has been stuck in my head on an almost daily basis for the last fourteen years. Lindsay had no business recording a song as good as this."

The song is tied to a lot of memories for @Remorque (10): "Legit one of my most listened to songs of 2004-2005. It was the highlight of the album to these ears, because it's probably the best performance she's ever recorded. Pair that fact with the video where she acts the fucking roof off and we have a winner on our hands. Bloody hell, uni-me fucking LIVED for this song in al its heartbreaking glory…"

@Mina (11) comes with a similar argument as I had with Demi's career: "I effing love this song. Poor Lindsay and the pop/rock career she could have had before it all went off the rails."

I like Over but I do find it's overrated when it comes to Lindsay's discography.

#29. Sabrina Carpenter - On Purpose - 7.750

Highest: 10 x 5 (@aniraz, @iheartpoptarts, @Sprockrooster, @Pecans, @Charley)

Lowest: 5 x 3 (@Alouder98, Sprocky's BF, @Blond)

My Score: 8

Voter Bloc 1: #61
Voter Bloc 2: #33
Voter Bloc 3: #48
Voter Bloc 4: #39
Voter Bloc 5: #35

Final Voters: #29

Charts: None.

Release: Lead single from Sabrina's second album Evolution, in July 2016.

Songwriters: Sabrina Carpenter, Ido Zmishlany (producer)

Hazey's Focus: I imagined this might do ell, even for new listeners, because I thought some of you would listen to the 'Girl Meets World' era and go "no, no, no, hey what is this?". It has a very current sound by mixing in the tropical house production and having a more 'indie pop' sound from Sabrina, that you can find all over the album if you've never heard it in full. Like I said with "Thumbs" I enjoy a lot of the album, but some of the songs blend together for me and find them enjoyable but a bit samey. I would categorize this song with Olivia's "History" which makes me surprised that one do quite as well.

@Martyn (7) sighed as he gave in and went for another play: "Annoyingly good."

While @Sally_Harper (7) found that something chill is exactly what she needed after so many dance-bops: "I sort of zoned out a bit on this because I found it so calming. I’ve decided I think that’s a good thing!"

It was very effective in showing off what Sabrina can do, according to @31entrance (8): "Sabrina has strong vocals and this song shows it."

@unnameable (9) was tricked and ended up getting what they wanted after all: "starts off as a slow ballad then turns into a banger."

This structure is what ended up winning over @livefrommelbs (9.5): "God this is good. The way it just builds and builds... easily her best."

The explosiveness ingnited @Pecans's (10) passion for the song: "This chorus is KILLER. I just love how she breaks out into this huge pop chorus like what."

Still, the soft moments carried the sound for ballad-stan @Sprockrooster (10): "I wasn't ready for this heartfeld ballad in this bopfest of a rate."

Of course @iheartpoptarts (10) is being too kind because the album she is referring to ended up being a complete disaster: "Like the lost Zara Larsson single we got a mediocre album instead of." How did Zara go from "Rooftop" to "Lush Life" to whatever came after those?

This provides Lindsay a little bit of revenge. It also means Sabrina loses out to Bea Miller for the Girl Meets World crown, which I think is legit because Bea would've done even better had I also added her song "Young Blood" and was very close to doing so.

We're now down to the "Big 6" ... Aly & AJ, Ashley, Demi, Hilary, Miley, Selena. This is where it gets real good because it's what most of you really came for in the end, right?

Y'all are so biased towards the old stuff. Like, 'So Yesterday' is not better than this. Let me roll my eyes a little!

I think this one did just about as well as it could've, considering.

Even though I gave both an 8, I tend to agree with you on "So Yesterday".

It was always going to come down to the six biggest Disney-pop artists.

We just eliminated Lindsay, but we're not done with that era yet today.

So let's go back, back to the beginning...

Okay, so not that far back. (This tease never gets old for me)

Oh and @iheartpoptarts I think you'll consider this a worthy substitute for a "The Climb" elimination.

#28. Hilary Duff - Fly - 7.788

Highest: 10 x 6 (@GhettoPrincess, @Hurricane Drunk, @livefrommelbs, @Sprockrooster, Sprocky's BF, @Martyn)

Lowest: 3 x 2 (@Alouder98, @iheartpoptarts)

Voter Bloc 3: #23
Voter Bloc 4: #30
Voter Bloc 5: #26

These checkpoints won't show it, but "Fly" was the song I said I wasn't thrilled about being at #10 in the early stages.

Charts: #20 (UK) #21 (Australia) #8 (Belgium) #11 (Ireland) #13 (Italy) #32 (Netherlands) #24 (New Zealand)

Release: The lead single for Hilary's second album Hilary Duff, in August 2004.

Songwriters: Kara DioGuardi, John Shanks (producer)

Fun Facts: "Fly" can be found on the game Karaoke Revolution Party. John Shanks received a Grammy for his production work in 2005 which included "Fly" as small part of reasoning for the award. The music video was filmed in Worcester, MA (why wasn't a fan of hers yet?) during her Most Wanted Tour.

Hazey's Focus: This is her "Round & Round" for me, where I've had that ongoing battle of "do I like this or not?". Likewise, there was a time where I deleted "Fly" from my library as I think I just had heard it enough times. There's also something about her vocals being stretched out in the chorus that has always bugged me, because we all know Hilary doesn't have the strongest voice ever and these kind of songs simply don't work for like others do. That being said, there's some emotional power in the build-up and that same chorus does become a bit of an anthem despite the limited capabilities of Hilary's abilities.

Leave the discussion about the song's message at the door, @iheartpoptarts (3) doesn't want to hear about it: "I know it's supposed to be inspirational, but it's oh so miserable sounding."

It's a true rough patch in Hilary's catalogue if you ask @Pecans (5): "Fly is so messy to me. It really just doesn’t click with my like most of Hilary’s discography does."

@Sally_Harper (7) is the Patrick Star of the voting panel: "I’ve somehow never heard this before in my life. This is probably a really weird comparison to make, but it reminds me of Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life. I don’t know what to make of that." No it's there, in fact Blender Magazine's review of "Fly" said it sounded like Evanescence.

@Remorque (7.5) and I truly think alike as far what the chorus does here and anybody who wonders why I love this kind of pop so much shouldn't be wondering anymore with all the 'Pop Punk Princess' references we're getting: "This was Hilary tapping into the angsty early 00's Avril-pop rock and while I do appreciate the sentiment of the song, in the end I had to take off a couple of points, because Hilary's straining to hit those notes and it doesn't always sound good."

@unnameable (8) gets back to their usual one-word commentary by calling it "OK".

@Martyn (9) gives us the British perspective of this era and reminds why I was so happy "The Getaway" was a promo single and could be added to the rate: "It was an interesting choice for the first and only single from the Hilary Duff album to be a ballad. I love this song though, so we very pleased it was the 2nd UK single from Most Wanted after the self titled album wasn't released here."

We find out how @Sprockrooster probably gets discounts for all the holidays he takes when Sprocky's BF (10) reveals their career: "As a flight attendant I approve of this song."

While some of us were hearing a struggle during the chorus, @livefrommelbs (10) and @GhettoPrincess (10) were hearing something completely different: "SING IT SIS. I remember being absolutely gagged when this first came out. Hilary at the height of her powers, and some of the best vocals she ever did deliver." || "I feel this song is so underrated, her chorus vocals are probably some of the most powerful in her career and I love how empowering it is."

While @Sprockrooster (1) tells us about the mistake he nearly made the last time Hilz had the spotlight on here in PJ-land: "My 11 in the Hilary Duff-rate and I regret nothing, cause seriously what a life changing song."
